Games like UT, Reflex and Toxikk aren't being abandoned because they're not good, but because games like CSGO and Overwatch appeal to far more people. Arena FPS is like shmups, it appeals to 200 guys worldwide who are so vocal they make it sound like everyone wants new AFPS all the time (even though to master a single good one could take over a decade)

Overwatch I don't remember any real negativity for, because nobody expects Blizzard games to be bad and they've never made a bad game (even SC2 was at worst mediocre)
