I've been practicing Baiken combos but now I'm too scared to go online because I don't know what to do to when I'm not comboing.

So I guess my question is, how does the neutral work in this game? Is there a neutral? I only see insane amounts of rushdown and set ups but Baiken doesn't have a lot of tools. She seems defensive I think. Not a lot she can do out of a corner either.

Jump and do alternatively j.Hs and tatami, if you find a preassure oportunity end your blockstrings with the command dash and see if they can deal with it, if not abuse that and your guard cancels, if they do vary them with tatami, jump cancel tatami/j.Hs and the hook

In that case just play everyone for a bit until you click with someone.

Then study it. Go into training mode an search for viable ways to approach, initiate pressure and breaking an opponent's defense from such pressure.
Also, for Baiken specifically you'll have to progressively learn when to counter during blockstrings.
Either way, you are never really prepared for online, you have to gain experience on the way.
