1. Arcsys games on Steam are:
a. Really far behind their console counterparts (BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, UNIEL, Arcana Heart, etc.)
b. Forced upgrades to stay relevant and to be able to play online (Nobody likes spending 20 dollars or even spending a full 60 for like five more characters and 4 stages/balance updates)
c. Not crossplay (even though it very clearly works and is possible) so even if the game bombs on PC players can still find an audience online to play with

So of course nobody fucking buys them. If they released these games at the same time as the console releases with crossplay then I'd guarantee that more than twice the people would be playing, and playing for much longer.

Even if we do get them they come month later, we get scraps. I bet UNIST will release on PC months after consoles and they will casually announce the next version soon after.
The gendra isn't that popular to begin with and, like shmups, famous for being casual filters from the get go.
Even if we do get them they don't let us fight against console players even if the gendra as a whole would gain from it. As a result you must either have regular friends playing them on get on specific discord/whatever to find rounds (good thing is that the later helps with the former).

Basically they are doing efforts by giving us the games but fuck it up regardless.

Fighting game fans were raised primarily on arcades, since they came from poor families that couldn't afford home consoles or computers. They had their quarters and knew exactly what game they wanted to play.
In case you were wondering why fighting games are more popular with black people than any other genre, that's also the reason.
In Japan, fighting games are still largely played in arcades.

PC as a platform gives you so much freedom and opens up so many options to you, that you can get easily overwhelmed and have a hard time focusing on one game for a very long time. That means games as demanding as fighting games aren't going to seem so appealing when you have little to no experience whatsoever.
On top of that, up until a few years ago, there was no real presence for fighting games on PC. And even now during the new fighting game boom, PC always has the lowest playerbase among all platforms.
Funnily enough, the majority of people who parrot 'git gud' at every corner wouldn't stand a chance in fighting games.

Of course this is just speaking in broad terms. I myself operate mainly on PC and don't play fighting games because I just don't have that kind of mental fortitude that's required to get good at it, but I still love to watch them and understand why it has the community it does.

I just want to play fighting games without paying for an online console subscription :'(

I like fighting games, but the input motions can be jarring for new players, so it's really hard to have fun early on.. Plus, there are a lot of fighting games that perform terribly.
Still, MUGEN is popular, so there's that.

I once read about a thing. Most fighting game fans look to play competitively, and tournaments will all have a specific setup so the game runs consistently. The best way to ensure that is to use the console version of the game for tournaments. So there's no point in learning the game on PC since even the most minute stutter or framerate change could make a difference. Why else are ports often broken on PC but work fine on console? Because normal people game on consoles, and there's a lot more normal people than shut in virgins.

I hate SFV, Tekken never really clicked with me, the other games are too niche to just jump in online, and fighting games have garbage single player content. So every time I try a fighting game I just drift back to other genres.

No PC "gamer" I've met until now hate fighting games. Just that many do not actively try to get into them, as they are not very fun, and the only way to have fun in fighting games is if you're highly competitive and with a worthy opponent. Balance is hard to find. Either you demolish, or you get obliterated. Fighting games simply aren't very popular because they aren't as immersive as other genres. Not because they're bad, but because they work on a different ideology. I respect people who play fighting games nonetheless. It's the consoleshits who should be lynched. Consolecucks are the most weak, shitty players I've ever encountered. they never learn. You can make it so it automatically aims at the head of enemies and consolecucks would fuck up pressing the button to shoot. They literally are braindead.

I learned to play without guides. Only a description of the mechanics and the people ready to play in the Wingdreams lobby. As you say, I experimented and tried different things, sitting in training mode figuring out strats and mixups and of course getting blown out online until eventually I started winning.
You just want to go and win with no effort and no dedication. You're the problem, not the game.
