Smash wasn't incomplete on release, It was receiving balance patches. You're not able to play online if you're not up to date with the latest patch because your game's data might contradict the other player's.

Consoles not having DVD/blue-ray readers is also a non-issue. It's a gaming console not an entertainment system, jesus.
