donkey kong country was a good game

I've never really been a fan of the Donkey Kong Country series.
It just feels too "western" for my tastes.

it's also hard as hell. I remember practicing this game and dying so many times as a kid. then I played it again as an adult and sucked all over again. imo it surpasses Mario as a platformer

DK was only mediocre at best and only proves that people buy into any product if its advertised as ""revolutionary", which in this case, are the graphics.

DK2 is still amazing to this day though.

I think DKC is a solid 8/10 game. Pretty fun, great music/interesting scenery.

DKC2 is definitely a 9.5/10. It's a shame the third sucked so bad. I liked the direction they were going

i don't know why it gets so much hate
the graphics were exceptional for the time and the music is great
i loved finding out all the secret passageways and the mechanics were just so crisp (roll-jumping and something about the way you bounce off enemies just feels perfect)
