I'd be pretty disappointed in Harada if he adds 2 great 2D legends but non of the 3D legends from VF and DoA.

DoA is more bland in terms of fighting mechanics. DoA has greater character design compared to VF, but the actual gameplay of DoA pales considerably to Tekken and Virtua Fighter. Those 2 series are the cream of the crop of 3D-plane fighters.

I know it is. I love VF. My point is the character designs themselves are bland, it's the combat system that makes VF neat. Akira and Goh are way too bland to be interesting additions to Tekken, since they choose iconic characters with strong personalities. The moveset changes, but you'll be left with the character. Without his moveset (relying on a unique input system that won't be there in tekken) Akira has nothing. At least Shun Di has interesting mechanics and no crossover with existing characters since both Lei and Wang are missing.

I don't like the devils in Tekken. I like Wang, Ganryu, Lei and Baek most out of everyone, and all four would fit well in a VF game. My issue isn't that they suck, it's that it's very unlikely for Namco to pick someone along those lines as the third guest slot when much more impactful characters with stronger personalities would pull more players. Shun Di or Akira would be sick in terms of playstyle but I don't see it happening.

It depends on if they are going to keep the same theme as the other two guest characters: villains from other fighting game franchises. Probably to lure fans from those series to play tekken that normally wouldn't.

My guess is it would be a western series like Mortal Kombat or Killer Instinct. MK is more likely, so either Shao Khan or Shang Tsung would be the rep as they are instantly iconic and would fit their theme of villains.

It could be anybody though, which is the fun of it all. Hell I remember when Spawn and Link were guests on Soul Caliber 2.

Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

DoA's a shitty otakubait meme game and VF's such a safe, boring choice, I'd rather they get someone who's either in a 2D fighter or someone who hasn't been in a fighter yet at all. Part of what made Soul Calibur's guests so great is that they took such whack, unsafe ideas like Darth Vader or Ezio and just made them work.
I personally want Velvet, she's got some good moveset potential and could be a great in-house promotion for the Tales series, plus I think it'd be cool to see her potentially fight Akuma or Geese on EVO main stage next year.
