Nope. You make bases every mission. You have a home base though that is permanent and can be upgraded. Most missions revolve around a thing called an atlas, which is the core for your tower defense shit. You plop it down, build a base around it using mats you find through the level, set up traps, defend it, level ends. That's why it's generally not worth making traps for low level missions, up through the like... third area. Use the prefab traps you find laying around. They're good enough.

Frankly everything about the game right now looks like an unmitigated disaster, they had a good idea that got completely ruined to make room for nickle and dime mechanics and trying to encourage people to buy more lootboxes (or llama's, as this game calls them)

Right now you don't play the game for fun unless you buy shit, you play the game to hopefully get good loot to have fun with later, for a while, until that good loot breaks and you're back to grinding, or you hit another difficulty spike that can only be mitigated with more grind or bought loot.
