In quality: First episode is really good. Second and third are somewhat boring. Fourth is good.

The OST was utterly terrible for a Castlevania adaptation, but I suspect Konami had something to do with that. I feel the pacing is a bit fucky, but it's just a prologue to the season we're getting later. The villian is good, really hateable and felt really satisfying when he died as well. I wish that more came out of the scene where Trevor taught the villagers how to fight, that scene was pretty interesting overall. I'd say it's a solid 6/10 as it stands now.

It is great, the only negatives are that it is basically a trial run rather than a full season and while I really like the animation in this I found minor flaws in it that bugged me. As for faithfully adapting it goes, the game doesn't exactly have a story either but there are some differences for example grant dynasty doesn't make an appearance in the first 4 episodes instead you meet Alucard and Sypha. 3 and SoTN are what the show is based on, and they're very good representatives of their style. Just play in release order while ignoring 2 (if you want to play it get the rom hack that fixes the translation), the original gameboy games and the weird spinoffs. The 3D games aren't great either but still worth checking out. If you'll like the classic games then don't skip over Chronicles/X68k and The Adventure Rebirth, both are excellent.

I really like Trevor as a protagonist.

I like that the first thing we see of him is him drunk off his ass and getting the shit kicked out of him.
He doesn't go down without a fight, but he definitely doesn't win, and none of it is with dignity.
They do a lot of really basic but really essential character-building stuff with him that makes him believable.
It feels really natural how he goes from drunk guy looking for food to guy who's gonna stop Dracula.

Also Sypha is cute, CUTE, C U T E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
