They were willing to try new things, with another dimension to play with. they tried things, figured out what worked and what didn't, and nowadays they only use what worked best. which is bland catering to the masses.

Beloved IP entering into a new era of gaming with droves of previously unexplored possibilities.
Truly a great era for gaming, and I think these two games' success can be attributed to the fact the Rare was on top of their game during this time, churning out fantastic games one by one.

I remember went my friend got an N64 with OoT on it and I still had my NES with 3-4 games

3d was pretty new and there were years of stored up ideas that developers scrambled to put in games. Now the novelty and good ideas comes in a trickle instead of a flood.
