Fallout 1 had the better atmosphere, Fallout 2 did everything else better, they're both great though.

The world and writing of 2 weren't all that good in the first place, so yeah.

It's better than 3 and a decent FPS RPG, but it's nowhere close to 1, or even the best of 2.

2 is when it went downhill, though.

Arcanum, for all its shit combat, is a much better game than 2. You can tell the people that made 1 what it was were the ones that made Arcanum.

It absolutely doesn't. New Vegas is just as bad as 3 and 4. It's not somehow magically a different genre because you like Obsidian or whatever. Every problem that 3 and 4 had, New Vegas had as well, and that includes the plot and the writing.
