Yes and no. I personally think the (actual) final boss is the hardest, but Death is a pretty good step up from what they throw at you. If you aren't going for the best end, then I'd say he's the hardest.

By the way, Medusa Head's soul is fucking top tier for that fight. Really helpful to avoid the scythe throw that sweeps around the room.

I grew up on Aria of Sorrow amd Circle of the Moon so I'm incredibly biased. I like AoS more than Symphony of the Night, but that's because I'm too young to have owned a PS1. I only bought one a few months back because I realized I had never played FF7 or SotN.

I think SotN is the better game, but I just so happen to like AoS more because it was my first introduction to Castlevania and I got it at a garage sale when I was 8. 10 years later I still hop on my SP and play it at times.

For that Anon who said you could beat this game in a few days, you weren't wrong, I already finished exploring the map and now I just need to 100% the souls

Seriously though, beating the entire game using only fists and the skeleton soul was fucking painful but after getting the poison fist you can fucking destroy everything, the soul takes a moment to hit but its great for reaching flying enemies or killing groups of weak enemies, this has been an interesting play-through so far

I liked the castle area. Kinda surprised it was as big as it was considering all the other levels in the game already.
