I'd be way more hype with stacks and stacks of references if DBS wasn't copying shit almost frame for frame already. It feels like a really cheap way to give something a nod. You need to focus on making new and interesting things rather than relying on references. This is my major problem with Skullgirls. Fucking everything is a reference and very little in terms of moves, plaettes, etc feels fresh and unique to the series. It's too muddled in paying tribute.

DBZF however seems to rely totally on this which is a bit disappointing, but it's going to be side characters like Krillen and Tien for instance that will make or break this in regards to style and variation since they have far less to pull from and the interesting things they do are long since passed. IE every cool Tien thing was from DB. In fact Tien has potential to be one of the coolest characters in the game.

As for HDBZ I hope they continue it. I'm curious to see what they'll do for Krillen and if they'll tackle Yamcha ever.

Yeah you won't have to worry about that. The only way they have multiple characters like that is if they go the full clone route and have a 40+ character roster with a few unique ones. They 100% will not do that, though, as creating characters in their engine is more complicated graphically than other games.

There's going to be 16-25 characters and the least unique they're going to get is the Saiyans all being similar.

The only reason they're even able to crank out 20 characters in this style for a launch title is what looks to be the fact that each character is pretty basic whereas BB and GG characters all have unique gimmicks and quite a few moves thanks to different inputs being available. This has quarter circles and down down. That's it, so already you're not going to see a ton of different things for each character.

You know. I was thinking about Mr Satan and how he'd work considering the basic mechanics of the game. Things Mr Satan can't do are super dash, teleport kick, or fire ki blasts. The super dash could easily be handled with a jetpack like he's always had. The ki blasts could be replaced by him throwing rocks like he's done previously.

The hard one is the teleport kick, but I think I have an idea. Make it so that when he does the teleport kick instead of teleporting he just appears behind the character and where he was standing a mirror falls over and breaks. The reasoning behind this idea is because that's what he always claims the real fighters are doing, using mirrors, wires, and light tricks.

Perfect Cell gave us moments like the Final Flash, 16's farewell, Gohan's subsequent transformation, Goku's sacrifice, and the Father-Son Kamehameha. All of which were far better than Buu killing everyone after Piccolo suggested it.

He's a single joke done to the point where it gets annoying, and then done some more
