I played it. The occasional gunfights lead to open areas and creativity, but the majority of the game had Joel routed down an extremely linear path while playing conversations with whoever he's with, be it Tommy, Tess or Ellie. Matthewmatosis makes good content but he doesn't give a shit basically. Uploads when he feels like, sometimes it's a 15 minute video about some random shovelware he thought was kinda cool, sometimes it's a 6 hour long autism trip through an entire game. Inconsistent but good.

Joseph Anderson has literal shit taste and dedicated an entire series of several hour long videos to fucking Uncharted. Uploads more frequently and constantly shills his patreon and complains about money issues because he does youtube for the in-depth critique bandwagon money and not as an outlet for cool stuff he's been thinking about, which is probably why he keeps making videos about recent popular mainstream garbage.

Super Bunnyhop isn't pure criticism since he does a lot more general "gaming journalism" stuff, but when he does actual critiques he tends to be overly pretentious (watch his MGS3 and Nier Automata reviews for blatant examples of this). His other videos are well researched and pretty interesting, so I really don't mind him making less critiques nowadays.

Mr B Tongue is dead and whenever he comes back from the dead it'll probably be with a shitty video but I'm still eagerly waiting for it.

I'm not shitting on either of those genres, but you cannot deny that if something releases and is a success, many other developers will copy that idea and abuse it to the utmost extreme. We've seen it with how many mediocre 3D platformers plagued the mid/late 90s, how many mediocre GTA clones we had to put up with due to the success of GTA3 and Vice City, and how the popularity of Halo completely stunted the growth of nearly every single FPS game put out with its health regeneration and 2 weapon limit for over a decade.

You may argue that TLOU is already released and past its date and is irrelevant now, but the impact it still puts on so many titles is stunting the growth and creativity of video games in general. Walking and talking is a near mainstay in just about every single video game to date now, and having the developers put more of a focus on the story than the actual game takes away from the gaming experience as a whole.
