Is this really the best JRPG ever?
>>384740786
The greatest true-to-its-roots RPG, I'd say so. Conversely, the series with the most underwhelming sequels one after the other.
>>384740786
No, but it is the greatest love story ever told
>>384741409
Really? I was told before the sequels are when it gets really good
Calvard when?
>>384742115
The sequel as in the second chapter of the first game, and debatably the third.
>>384740786
Decent gameplay, decent story, decent characters, strangely consistent literal-who forgettable background characters everywhere.
If you're dying for JRPGs I don't think this would disappoint. Calling it the best JRPG ever is just setting yourself up for disappointment though. If you don't get at least a mild interest in the first game you probably wont enjoy the series.
>>384740786
Best story told in a JRPG, definitely, but it's hardly the best JRPG.
>>384741409
>sequels
Are we talking about SC and The 3rd, or Crossbell and Cold Steel?
SC and The 3rd kick FC's ass, not to mention the Crossbell duology are generally considered leagues above the other Trails subseries.
Pirate it and find out.
>>384740786
No it's actually the weakest in the series. Trails is my favorite JRPG franchise though so you should play it
>>384740786
No, it's massively inferior to most Dragon Quest games
>>384746972
>most Dragon Quest games
How can it be most DQ games?
Every single one is just the same game with a different story.
>>384747209
>every single one is just the same game but different
retard don't reply to me again
>>384740786
No, it isn't. Frankly its not that special other than the worldbuilding. It has a nice cast of characters and the combat is mechanically solid but its poorly paced, and the story isn't really all that good other than the character interaction, which is straight up anime tropes and how much you enjoy it will depend on how much of that you can put up with. I liked it for what it was but I would rate it much lower than the game arts rpgs it draws so much inspiration from.
