Persona 5 did not operate as an actual jrpg. It was just a pressing x simulator after hours of compendium.

I think its a massive disappointment given the time between 4 and 5 and the numerous delays it got.

I bought a new, 60gb PS3 back in the day for this and I ended up playing it on my PS4 it took so long to come out in the west.

If 6 takes more than 2 years to release it will sour my feelings for 5 even more.

Makoto is my least favorite High Priestess, After Maki and Fuuka Atlus has clearly given up on representing this Arcana accurately

The cast often tells me to go to bed when I don't want to.
Mechanisms are introduced in the third dungeon that should have been introduced in the second (gallows).
Demon negotiation is a pair imitation of that seen in smt mainline.
Can't negotiate demons unless they're knocked down, makes it difficult to negotiate with demons if you're a higher level than them.
Personas gain exp really slowly unless you use the gallows, but you have to constantly bug out to the velvet room to do that.
If you negotiate with a demon, the fight ends and you don't get exp from that entire fight, just the one you negotiate with and any you already killed.

It's the best persona game I've played but smt4 blows it out of the water in terms of gameplay.

It's because everyone who enjoys playing the game moves on to other games to try or loves it either moves on to the general in /vg/ to waifu post. It's not that I hate it, it's just that they could have done better with the characters.

Haru is a literal who and I don't know how they thought not giving her bangs or making her hair look less weird was okay. It was as long as any of the other games but it just felt like it went by too fast. All of the main character development was smushed into their respective social links but group development as a whole just felt like it didn't even exist. There wasn't any real bonding.

The age of the protagonist is a quick test to determine the target audience of a movie or tv show. Generally speaking people put themselves in the shoes of the protagonist to understand the problems that character is facing and the closer that person's struggle mirror their own, the more realistic that character becomes.

So the problem with teenage characters is easier to seen when contrasted with mature characters. I'll use 25 as a rough cutoff point. Older characters aren't "going of age." In other words they have already been around the block and they have seen both the good and bad consequences of their actions. As a result they are better able to make decisions based on their experience, specifically they understand morally ambiguous situations whether both sides are partially right or partially wrong.

Best example I can think of recently is Witcher 3 Heart of Stones expansion back. Both Olgierd and Gaunter O'Dimm were horrible and deserved to die. Having to weight that type of morally ambigous decision on who to side with was really mature and ended the story quite nicely.

Now compare to that any JRPG or most Animes whether the problem is reduced to black and white, this bad bad either wants to hurt my family friends or humanity as a whole. It's hard, if not impossible, to develop mature stories with teenagers are the protagonist because they don't have the back story or expeirencne for depth.

Technically correct but in reality almost all Animes are guilty of being immature and featuring either shallow or convoluted stories (which are really just complex shallow stories) because they are targeted to teenagers and focus on coming of age story problems rather than adult life problems.

JRPGs feature the same problems, especially Persona 5, as they are an extension of anime stories in video games.

Will comment on this. The reason they wouldn't recommend being a mechanic is because it's essentially a perfectly competitive market, or very close to perfect competition, so the pay isn't the best and it requires doing the exact same task everyday with no variety. Humans don't like being robots, e.g. Foxconn suicides.

If your friends chose an hobby such as music, acting, standup comedy, or sports and made it into the industry then they would have a completely different tune.
