Haven't played prime 2 but from what I remember prime 1 was much less linear and had significantly less cutscenes and dialogue to sift through.

It's been years though so my memory might be off. It might've been linear up until the relic scavenger hunt, at which point the game has become almost entirely open and you need to do tons of exploring.

Honestly I like Fusion more but I can see why someone would like Prime 1 and not it.
