Why are western games so shitty?

They lack an identity. They all have a brown/green palette, involve war or zombies, lack engaging gameplay, and focus more on the "story" than the actual game.

Japan is a smaller country so the cost of publishing is much smaller, allowing publishers to take more risks in what they publish, leading to better games.
