Yes. Better than the first in every aspect except story

It's good but there's a really annoying pause after you do most things that slows it down.

Fixed a lot of the shit stuff in FFTA, especially the laws.
Heck, you can even use a special item to get ride of the laws IIRC.
Huge gameplay improvement aswell.
Main problem is that the story is godawful, though there's a lot of nice sidestory, especially one to get the best girl of the game.

but laws dont really matter its basically prevents you from reviving your allies for that single battle and you get slightly less loot. 99% of the time you can break it with no real loss.

It's been forever since I played it, I guess it left such a strong impression on me that I though you always had it.
I really hated the Law system of FFTA.

The story sucked and the two new races were disappointing due to barely any jobs and no interesting jobs.

Magic was made 100% unfun and terrible in the beginning of the game due to the 0mp at the start change.
Sure assassins were OP as fuck in 1, but they were nerfed to uselessness in 2 and that just sucked.

I don't know, the gameplay was better but it just took some of the real nice things that 1 had and did away with them.

I had a lot of fun with it, especially optimizing classes for each character. I do remember dropping it when I got to the Antlion though because of how hard it got.

Although I like a lot of TRPGs I found FFTA really boring, all the maps felt like mindless chores to play through. I didn't feel like the game had designed appropriate challenges to stimulate the player and encourage varied tactics. Should I bother giving this one a try or is it more of the same?

Any tips for hard mode? It doesn't feel too impossible so far. Can I stick to the same party all game? I kinda wanna replace my human with a Seeq as soon as I can get one to join so I can have one of each race.

It's the best SRPG ever in terms of gameplay.
Meh on story but good enough to keep you interested, even if it's aimed at all ages.

It beats out TA, FFT, TO, FE, etc, handily in terms of mechanics and fun.

Nothing tops building characters over 50+ hours of gameplay to do shit like conjure earthquakes and then teleport to each enemy hit and melee them, or fly up a cliff to assassinate the enemy healer with a dragon girl, or doublecast a heal spell on allies and then summon a fire deity to burn the enemy team.

The job system is just great.

Is hard mode an unlockable?

I kinda want to do that if I replay. And I'm bored lately, I would replay it.
