We all agree that input lag is just a meme, right?
>>
>>384718661
no, we don't
>>
>>384718661
shut up turd
>>
Input lag is very real and I've run into a large number of PC games that run worse and have issues and glitches specific to HDMI display.
>>
If you don't have a crt in your house you don't know SHIT about video games
>>
>>384719589
what are some examples? I play on a TV and never noticed these issues.
>>
If you play casually, you don't need to worry about input lag. You only need to worry about if you play competitively.
>>
>>384718661
Listen TVfag, you can say nice little things like that to make you feel a little more confident about your shitty purchase, but you're just cucking yourself
>>
>>384718661
No, retard.
>>
Input lag must be ass on a 4k tv. Everyone who cares about visuals that much aren't good at games anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter much to them.

In Metal Gear Rising Revengeance certain setpieces (like the tower that Raiden get's thrown into on the first level) never load and the game freezes once it gets to them.
DOOM 2016's colors are off
Nier Automata runs about 10fps worse on TV and has input lag far beyond normal
Hotline Miami's cursor gets fucked up, and prevents you from using the zoom look
Some of what i've experienced.
>>
>>384720203
hmm. played Revengeance both on console and PC on my TV and never noticed any difference. haven't played the others.

>tvs are the same as monitors
>>
>>384718661
TV's do lag anon, my friend bought a 55 inch TV and when I tried playing Battlefield on it I just couldnt do it, it felt sluggish, he didn't notice it but I did, probably because I'm used to using 21 inch computer monitor to play vydia instead.
>>
>>384720291
Well I've definitely experienced all of those on my TV and solved literally all of them by going back and trying to just play it on my computer monitor instead.
>>
Is this really a thing people worry about? Damn I can see the hardware people got your heads turned all the way around.
>>
>>384719654
Try running an old rhythm game like Parappa the Rapper
The entirety of the game's built in "wiggle room" for hitting notes less than perfectly is eaten up by input and display lag since the game was designed for CRTs

Some players have to hit buttons /before/ the audible note even plays, their TVs are so slow
>>
>was going to get a monitor as my TVs replacement since smart TVs are a meme
>most monitors don't have remotes and features like sleep or screen protection or any way to play media via usb
my 7 year old TV is dying and there's nothing that's an objective upgrade. Why the fuck do TV manufacturers not have more than 4 HDMI ports max? What a joke
>>
>>384718661
It's just a rumor spread by PC "Master" Race fags. TVs are fine.

>????
>buy a new tv, shitheel
>>
it's not a meme when you're using a shitty TV with 20ms input lag
>>
>>384720681
What % of customers do you imagine need more than 4 fucking hdmi ports?
>>
I dont mind a little bit more inputlag

Te thing that bothers me is pixel response , And in that regard monitors are better. My tv (Sony 42w828b) suffers too much motion blur and It sucks
>>
Go play the milla blocker and tell me what reaction times you guys have and post your setup. I want to see if the lagless moniter crowd actually has better reaction times.
>>
>>384720681
>most monitors don't have remotes
Pretty much every modern monitor has a remote, if only because manufacturers are too cheap to install enough buttons to navigate the menu options in their entirety

>features like sleep
Menu options.

>screen protection
... What, are you replacing an old plasma? Burn-in isn't an issue on modern displays.

>media via usb
Surely you've got the monitor plugged into a device of some sort to begin with
>>
>>384720882
>1 for cable
>1 for surround sound stereo
>1 for blu ray
wow, we're already up to 3 and we don't even have a vidya console connected yet! I honestly don't know how normies find this acceptable.
>>
>>384721173
I didn't know people still had cable or blu ray players. Your computer serves as both of those.
>>
>>384720456
Was the error repeatable? Or is it likely that restarting your computer fixed it? Perhaps your specific graphics card has an issue.
>>384721173
If you have a surround sound stereo, your cable and Blu Ray should be plugged into it.
>>
>>384721256
besides, blu-ray players are basically whatever game console this guy is gonna plug in. the new xbox is basically a media device at this point so
>>
>>384721026
>modern monitor from asus and other shit brands
I want a 4k 60+hz korean one because they're not overpriced as all fuck
>>384721256
>implying normies know how to connect their TV to their computer
replace cable with android box, whatever. Most TVs come with only fucking 2 yet mine came with four 7 years ago. I have a PS3, PS4, Wii U, Switch and my PC, 5 ports are needed, if I had surround sound that would be 6
>>384721410
surprise! cheap stereos only have 1 HDMI to plug into the display and one extra to plug something into it. Unless you go high end expensive shit that's what you're getting
>>
>>384721410
Very repeatable. These issues arise any time I try to play the games over HDMI. Doubtful that my 1070 has some specific problems with HDMi support.
>>
>>384721173
>1 for surround sound stereo

Surround Sound is generally handled by an A/V Receiver, which will have four to seven HDMI inputs on its own all passed through a single output to your TV.
>>
>>384721589
just get hdmi splitters. they work fine for me.
>>
I prefer to play on my tv with a steam controller. Super comfy times. Only play single player shit.
>>
>>384721589
I was specifically referring to Korean monitors you dingus, expensive gaymen monitors from Asus and the like will put a stupid joystick on the back of the monitor instead of giving you a remote because they're already charging you so much dosh.

Also way to just completely ignore all of my other points. Great attention span.
>>
For a 60 fps game, one frame of input lag is 16.66 ms. I personally don't notice until it hits two frames, and most TVs have less than two frames of lag.
I still usually use a monitor.
>>
>>384721695
fuck i didn't mean a splitter.
i mean one of these.

>>
Top 100 SFIV Sagat player and Global Elite on CS:GO here, I game on a 40'' TV.

Input lag is a loser's excuse.
>>
>>384720985
Are none of you willing to put your reactions where your mouth is? You just block some attacks then tell us how many ms it took you to react.
>>
>>384721695
it would be nice to not have a Frankenstein monster of a TV stand laced with endless wires. Manufacturers need to get their shit together or TV sales will continue to be sluggish. People are tired of the bullshit
>>384721791
your other points were noted but not super relevant considering they barely address the fact that I can't actually UPGRADE my 7 year old TV. I shouldn't be having to compromise on old as fuck features, we should be getting awesome new displays that are better, not in-fighting because Samsung is horse shit these days
>>
>>384719654
I love seeing afirst reaction of shit heads, who have played all their conscious life on LCD panels, on Desktop Composition Manager-riddled version of Windows in Windowed Borderless fullscreen mode, switching to playing the same game on CRT, Windows XP
>>
I remember Halo Reach was a game I hooked up to a cheap Monitor and it was unplayable with how much input lag was present. At first I thought it was just the game but then I hooked it up to a tv and had instant input.

Input lag matters for some monitors.
>>
>they fell fo the inut lag mem
Fucking retrds I use a TV as my monitor nd it works perfctly fine
>>
>>384722098
just put all the wires behind it. i mean idk your situation but i have this bigass tv in my media room and there's just this giant clusterfuck of wires behind the tv that would be completely unresonable if it was visible, but it's behind it so we can't see it.

The only games I don't play on my 144hz monitor are racing games. My projector is pretty great at 100 inches and has less input latency the most TVs.
>>
>>384722098
>I can't actually UPGRADE my 7 year old TV. I shouldn't be having to compromise on old as fuck features

What fucking features are you compromising on?

>remote
No compromise
>sleep
No compromise
>screen protection
Displays are BETTER today and no longer need screen protection in the first place
>Media
Already handled by any of the 4-7 devices you're hooking up to the display
>>
>>384718661
O have a 52" tv and I play all my games on it exclusively. I see no point on wasting the money on a monitor just for my PC when a keyboard and mouse slab is a fraction of the price.
>>
>>384721173
You get one of these.

http://www.harveynorman.com.au/tv-blu-ray-home-theatre/home-theatre-speakers/av-receivers/denon-avr-x520-bluetooth-av-receiver.html

And Harvey Norman overprice as fuck so you buy it somewhere cheaper, unless you really want that case of wine.
>>
>>384722418
I'm glad then, I'd rather a korean display than the shit they're passing off as "smart" TVs these days
>friend buys a new samsung smart TV
>bring a usb drive full of movies since he's old and a normie who cant into technology
>it can't play videos, only audio
>meanwhile my 7 year old TV can play any media except .mkv files

hope you enjoy getting spied on and the soon to come ads that interrupt you. How else will samsung make money after all if they can't harvest your data and show you ads?
God TVs are about to seriously go down the fucking toilet
>>
>>384723172
This test is stupid, it relies more on your human reaction times than anything else. I'm 30 years old and I have grandpa reflexes so I'm getting 500+ ms on my high end monitor that I know can do better.

Your own normal real-life vision is more or less equivalent to 300Hz even though eyes don't work that way

If you're getting sick it's not the refresh rate
