Some of those instruments were impossible to play.
>>384714652
And man do I need to play it again
>>384714652
It's a goddamn shame we won't see another. Probably the most comfy game on the PS2
>playing in a band with your friends
>customizing your steambot
>traveling the road with your waifu and your harmonica
It's a shame there are so many emulation problems with this game. There are some hacks and ways to get around a lot of the problems, but definitely are some big issues with emulating it.
>>384715642
I could legit buy this game for £20 or so, would that be a good deal?
It's CiB, and the seller is telling me it's "rare"
>>384715652
Rune Factory Tides of Destiny for PS3 gave me similar vibes.
>>384716006
Tides of Destiny is by far the worst Rune Factory
>>384715736
it's uncommon and 20 quid's an alright price for it.
game has a very healthy amount of content, variety and customization.
>>384715736
>>384716762
my bad anon i thought you were talking about steambot chronicles
Ephemeral Fantasia, also has the honor of being one of the worst non-shovelware games I've ever played.
>>384717192
really like this game. great atmosphere and interesting concepts. sequel's kind of trashy though
>>384714774
It's hardly that bad.
>>384715452
does anyone know if this emulates well? wanna play it but never released in europe
>>384717261
Loved the shit out of that game.
>>384714652

Yea, shit like the accordion was a nightmare to play even reasonably well.
Meanwhile, trumpet and harmonica were easy-mode.
Too bad the Wii sequel sold like 10 copies in japan so it never got an english release
>>384717658
>PSP version
There wasn't one. There's like 2 spinoffs, one of which was an arena game. The other was this.
Still, the title screen was nice in the original game.
This garbage. It has some neat designs though, especially some of the heads.
>>384714652
There a very few games where you can truly do whatever you want, and steambot chronicles is the prime example. All it needed was some bugfixing, performance improvements, and lack of loading screens and it would be a true classic. Definitely worthy of a remaster for modern consoles.
>>384717842

>>384717192

I loved playing drums and piano
>>384718309
Developers went bankrupt or somehow went under during the development of it from what I remember.
>>384718476
oh fuck i just was getting a picture for this game, this game is fucking sick
>>384718465
it was cancelled after the tsunami happened, I think the company is still active tho
>>384715652
I still have hope. The head of Granzella mentioned he'd like to buy back the IP from IREM like they did with Zettai Zetsumei Toshi (Disaster Report). Maybe after ZZT4 comes out.
>>384715642
Such a charming, simple rpg.
Very fun platformer with action combat.
>>384718476
>>384718509
my boys
>>384718465
Actually, the devs formed a new company called Granzella and still have all the rights too Steambot and other games. They're making a new Disaster Report game and then they'll do Steambot Chronicles 2 according to an interview I read recently.
>>384718350
Why? They weren't that bad.
>>384715378
Loved this one.
Only person that played on /v/ currently.
>>384718523
>look up what happened to Irem
>stopped making games when the tsunami hit
>refocused to become primarily a slot-machine and pachinko developer
Even worse than bankruptcy
>>384718648
Well this is the first I've heard of it, but that is good news.
>>384718435
Don't think I ever bothered with drums much, and piano wasn't too bad outside of some songs where it was just a mess. Feels like they wanted to use the peripherals that were all the rage then, but couldn't be assed to make them compatible with the game.
Loved it to death when I was a kid
>>384718529
Speaking of, WHEN the hell is that supposed to drop? They got the rights to that thing like 3 years ago.
>>384718720
It's a solid wipeout clone. Miles better than Formula Fusion. For some reason when I don't use the default controls, menu navigation spergs out.
I got it for 50p, it was awful and the servers were already shutdown when I got it

I spent about a decade and a half trying to figure out what this game was in my memory. Likewise with Heart of Darkness
>>384718761
Guess you haven't seen many of the SC threads that crop up here, almost every one of them usually mentions what happened to Irem's game makers.
Sequel never
and the second one.
>>384718918
My only problem with the game is that the X360 controls for navigation spergs.
>>384718863
Im with you, still have my original CD.
Though i saw they did a port/update for a Steam version. I almost want to give it a go again
>>384719129
Go for it
>>384719051
>>384719042
I played that! It had a hot chick in it swinging a big sword, fun as hell.
I also played pic related - same deal.
>>384719058
XBONE has the same issue. Sometimes the options menus will freeze or the game won't let you select certain parts of the grid.
Never could beat Toad man though.
>>384719453
Also this.
>>384719051
>>384719327
loved these games
>>384715736
Yea I would but that's just me. Games fairly simple and might be described as babbys first rpg but I found it very charming with it's own style.
Would you believe me if i told you this game is nothing but a giant commercial for skittles?
>>384719042
I somewhat interested in this game but I heard it some what difficult. Is it worth the track down price range of $16-$20.
>>384719279
my first PS2 game
>>384719882
Why not just emulate it?
>>384715736
Oh and I wouldn't pay much attention when a seller says a games "rare" as they almost never actually rare.
sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that's ever played it.
>>384720063
Not a pc gamer and I don't have a decent pc for the matter.
>>384720141
I played it. I always preferred this boxart
>>384718875
Well, they started from scratch. They're also making City Shrouded in Shadow and since Bandai Namco is footing the bill , that's where their focus is.
>>384720373
>what should we put for the cover?
>just put a bunch of sprites of a character and call it a day
>>384720401
Geez, they started working on more than one game after just forming? I hope they don't screw themselves over with that. I want to see the DR game, and hopefully get THIS fucking back on track. Or at least a spiritual successor.
>>384720607
They must have confidence on the games they are making if they are working on two games at once, also they probably are being backed by Bamco bucks
>>384720816
Still, you'd think they would have just committed full force to one then go onto another. And I thought they were using some of what they had from the original DR4, just remade for a new engine since they switched to PS4.
>>384720947
>And I thought they were using some of what they had from the original DR4, just remade for a new engine since they switched to PS4.
They probably did but im not sure
>>384720947
They probably didn't start entirely from scratch. On paper stuff is still being used but in-game assets were tossed because they switched to PS4. That's my guess. Also, since they're self publishing ZZT4, they need some outside revenue so they took the City Shrouded in Shadow job.
>>384718216
Played that, shit was fucking fun, i liked collecting parts. I never beat it though.
>>384718216
Emulates better because you can speed up the walking that way.
it was ok
>>384721020
Wish it were easier to get details about them. I recall hearing something about what they had in mind for BT2, and how there was something about being able to change the economy or social practice in a town.
>>384722442
I played this at a friend's house, it was good but i sucked at it
>>384722386
GBA's Urbz is my overall favorite of the portable sims.

>>384722442
Wonder if they'll put that on PS4, they did put the previous game, Primal, on there.

played it on a old jampack demo disc
>>384714652
I saw this game at blockbuster a few times but the disc was always too scratched to run on my ps2.
I guess I will never know what kind of game it was.
>>384714652
I swear I'm the only person to have ever played this.
>>384714652
>>384726009
You might be able to find some copies on amazon or ebay, though probably fairly pricey.
>>384725971
That demo disc was fun AF. I eventually bought the full game once it got localized. Fantastic game.
>>384714652
Did you join the bloody mantis?
>>384726457
I loved the old japanese voices in it and that one tsundere girl gave 8 year old me a crush on butch women
>>384726596
Not him, but I did. Shame there's barely more to it than the Killer Elephants.
Spider-man cartoon maker. Just fucked around making shit explode and typing swears and blaring the crummy midi music.
>>384719882
It wasn't very difficult. The real difficulty came from the fact that no enemies respawned so you couldn't just grind out levels and steamroll the game. No respec option either and some of the end game weapons required you to specialize stats. I dunno if it's worth 20 dollars, but I had fun with it ages ago.
>>384714891

I rented this from a local store and haven't heard about it from anyone else since.
>>384718216
I loved metabots as a kid. Too bad it never really caught on here and we stopped getting games.
There will never be a modern equivalent called Terra Engineer where you can craft and manage worlds because for some reason no one will make one
>>384731149
The ending to this was surprisingly fucked up.
>>384723026
bought this one is a cheap bundle with peace walker and call of duty. Was better than my expectations.
>>384722442
This game is underrated as fuck, or maybe it just did fly under the radar. It was really good until the last chapter which felt sloppy and rushed.
I got 2 solid as hell rpgs for like $20 at a circuit city.
>>384734187
Played them and Heritage of War. I really enjoyed them, especially both games from generations.
Got real weird the closer you go to the end
>>384734187
2 was okay, but the not-mexican breaks the game.
3 had the overworld map and added the vacation/dating mechanic, but everything else kinda sucked. I remember being locked out of a long ass quest and getting fucked over by the mistranslated status window.
4 is probably one of the best jrpgs out there.
My favorite GBC game.
>>384714652
I've never seen someone talk about this game here before. It's a decent enough jrpg, I wished the story was a bit longer though.

>mfw no remake or sequel (fuck the psp game)
>>384741997
It could not have been that complicated to patch in a more competent MP, and make it so multiple at-home players could use it as well.
>>384742290
PSP game wasn't too bad from what I heard, just that it had not much of a story and none of the choices (beyond being the blonde or romancing one of the two if you were the dude).
But yea, I'd kill for a remake, I always think of things I would change to improve it.
>>384715642
This is one of the must play jrpgs almost everyone who is into jrpgs have played it.
>>384742801
It's a 6/10 genre entry. It's a game you play after you've played after you've played the 30 or so better PS1 jrpgs.
The only thing i can hope is for DR4 and the monster survival game to be successful so we can get the sequel to Steambot Chronicles
>>384740282
it's not just atlus, it's japan as a whole. japan has a very xenophobic culture and has only been open for approx. a century. they admire nazis for trying to take back their homeland and having a strong militant attitude towards furthering the state and strengthening its people. after the bombs dropped, they had to admit their weakness, lest they be wiped out entirely. now their feelings bubble under the surface, and manifests itself in the arts
>>384744093
Then why are they always the bad guys?
>>384744054
Or at least a reboot/successor that takes the same concept (car mechs) and just builds on that idea. There was so much potential in it.

>>384744330
it wouldnt be the same. Nobody in this day and age wants a comfy mecha game where you drive around town and try on outfits instead of grueling online combat like Titanfall

You could just ask for a bumpy trot thread faggot.
>>384744431
Pretty sure if they were able to do it, but as a reboot/reimagining, it'd be plenty the same.

>EVERYONE

>>384744294
>thinking every japanese voice is uniform
some put nazis in as ways to appease the states, lest the be nuked again. some put nazis as the bad guy because they are angry for every having joined forces with the nazis, leading them eventually to being nuked. some put them in because they love them and feel the need to put them in somehow. these are just a few manifestations of it. japan is just very confused right now, considering their only real ally is the people who fucking dropped fat man and little boy on em..

>>384747020
Probably didn't do well enough in sales to be considered for either the PS3 selection (though there was also a game breaking glitch when using a fat to play the game), and probably not known-enough to get a PS2 on PS4 deal. Bummer.

DOES ANYONE REMEMBER:
- A game for the PC that was in black and white with a pretty gritty / weirdo 90s art style where you played as a kid who jumped into toilets to transport yourself to another world? That's literally all I remember about it and I swear my dad's friend lent it to us to play, but I can't find it anywhere with this lack of information I have. Curious to see if anyone knows what the hell im talking about

>>384719329
>later on the game the main character is pretty much naked, beyond a few leather straps
>no censors either
Project Horned Owl is one of the games that stuck the whole 90s-anime-style in my head from a young age. In hindsight it's probably also what got me into Ghost in the Shell, because the art and art direction was all done by the Masamune Shirow. The cutscenes were brief, but the dialogue during the missions themselves actually were mostly fine, especially banterwise from stage 2 on.
Fun trivia, the voice actress for the mission control character would end up voicing Annette Birkin in Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles years later.
