Should I buy Overwatch or stick with Paladins?

If you like paladins, it shouldn't be hard to get $40 of value from OW.

How much more you can get is dependent on if you really like it or not.

Overwatch is shit. Basically a grindcore without the loot. 2 game modes, less maps than your usual COD, and the balance is centered around the fags on the bnet forum. Just play Paladins or TF2.

Buy Overwatch.
I play both Paladins and Overwatch regularly.
They are both pretty good games, and are good to play between each other.

I'd wait for a free weekend on overwatch and then buy it. I think it only had 1 free weekend though and the game is a year old already.

I like overwatch but I only play with friends and I only play ranked. Quick play is as cancer as it can be and arcade modes isn't fun at all for me.

I have already posted this video in a couple of threads over the past few days, but it's really good in explaining why you'd probably get a lot more value out of playing something like TF2 (or in your case stay with Paladins.)

As someone who has not played OW, a small amount of Paladins and over 500 hours of TF2, the video pretty much confirmed I will never play Overwatch (unless it goes free to play) because it is such a step down from something like TF2.

It's pretty long, but I think it's worth if you don't waste your money on OW.

Paladins is legitimately better and more fun than Overwatch. Surprisingly so. It's just that its map design is worse which is saying something considering how awful Overwatch's maps are.

They're pretty comparable in terms of gameplay quality, but Overwatch looks and runs a bit better.
You may enjoy OW more, but at its current price I don't think it would be enough of an improvement for you to get your money's worth.

Eh. Your choice. It's a free game at the end of the day so you have no reason to not try it out.

And even though I haven't played for a while now (due to shitty internet and ping issues) I can't really say the game has been getting worse. I don't know why people have been saying that, or where you heard it. The only thing I can think of is either the update where they added competitive, where the whole match making was broken for a while, making it difficult to get into a game (this has been fixed now) or the fact that updates have seemed to slowed down significantly over the past couple of years, and the focus of said updates being mainly around balance changes.

Either way, the video talks about the game design of Overwatch, and why it is a very shallow game that tries to be a very casual game that everyone can play, whilst also appealing to the e-sport demographic.

I would say this.

I do actually have a mate who was in the same boat as OP but when he played the free OW weekend rolled around he just came back to Paladins.
If you enjoy Paladins you'll definitely get £40 worth out of OW but whether or not you'll prefer it is another matter entirely.
Having played both I do prefer Paladins but don't regret buying Overwatch.

If you like paladins there is very little reason to get overwatch. There are plenty of similar hero shooters now for free so if you do get sick of it you can go try out them for free. I'd only ever suggest overwatch over paladins if all of your friends are already playing overwatch and flat out refuse to play any other non-blizzard game

Do you have friends that plays OW? if not then stick Paladins. You will only get vitriolic comments if you don't abide by the current meta or not pretend to be a pro e-sports player. Even Kaplan is starting to hate the no fun zone in pubs
