What made this game so good?

It's just all around solid, camera is also decent compared to most 3D platforms at the time.
I do wish it was a bit more challenging though.

I'm constantly amazed by how well the visuals hold up for such an early 3D game.

I like the fact that this game was just Rayman 2 Beta.
i liked it besides the horrible gliding controls

I think it's a combination of the cartoony art style, the good lighting engine, and how incredibly well the textures fir the surfaces they're put on.

Especially the latter is done amazingly well.
