it's easy as long as you aren't driving anything chevy
>he can't beat mission 34 in GT4
Practice in sectors, makes it easier since you don't have to go a whole lap again if you make a mistake somewhere
>Nurburgring
>10 laps
>>384703549
That and getting gold on that S-license nurburgring mission are the best way of learning that track.
>>384700852
>How many laps has it been? I don't remember this part and I've been doing this track for 20 minutes.

this and spa are my favorites

I like laguna seca. short fun and it lets me /o/ shitpost since the viper is faster than a 918 on it
>>384705395
Laguna Seca was the shittest track in GT5.

>Going from 450 km/h to 180 km/h in half a second and not flipping like mad when hitting the bump
Ah yes. I love playing Ridge Racer on the Nurburgring.

i fuckin hate that one turn
you know the one

Oh please. The g-force alone would have put any driver into a coma.
>>384700852
>tfw ran it so much I can mentally drive vizualizing the track in my mind with all prominent details such as road surface, brake markers, run-off, landscape and expected car behavior
I become tired as fuck after doing it, though.
>>384700852
This is great track when you get a hang of it. Ive done like 5000 or more laps in total in both gt5 and gt6 on steering wheel. Some cars require some careful accelerating on some sections and corners, also dont let go of gas when you going at high speeds, either brake or keep throttle at 20-30% or you can spin easily. Try to train with some easy mode sports car like audi r8 or nissan gt r on soft tyres
>>384705458
na
>>384705639
it's what made me love it hehe
Spa > everything else
>>384705997
this one is amazing too, the climb at the beginning of the race is superb
Is this the racing games thread?
>>384705372
>those shit lines
>>384706092
It could be.
Any racing thread outside /o/ usually ends up better than /ovg/ with their shitty graphics sumilators and autoists.
>see thread

I chuckled

Reminder that AC is simcade and has no simulation value
>>384705639
Although people often comment about the corkscrew, in simulators, the most horrifying corner for me is the one before that. You know, the one that precedes the uphill to the corkscrew. The apex is blind, and if you miss the turn-in half of a tenth of a second late, you're painting the wall red. Too early, you're going straight towards a potruding zebra and have to negotiate with your traction your way out of the line. It's nerve-wracking, going through it lap after lap.
I wonder why I'm the only people that seem to see that corner in this way.
>>384705863
This. One of my favorite tracks in sim racing.
Funny that back in the day, GPL was the only game that had a virtual representation of it. Next one I think it was in was either RACER or the leaked SimBin version in F1C 99-02. Now it's in literally every racing game.
>>384700852

>>384706358
Almost every corner on Leguna Seca gives me anxiety. Maybe it's some weird mental thing that I've just carried with me from my childhood days playing Gran Turismo. I feel like if I don't focus 100%, I will miss my brake target and fly off into the sand. I'm always exhausted after like 2 laps.
>>384706512
Just look upon their tire model.
>>384700852
Get good
>>384706358
>I wonder why I'm the only people that seem to see that corner in this way.
You're not. I fell about the same. The thing is, with a corner like that, it's so satisfying when you get it right because you KNOW you got it right.
>>384706703
You do know that the physics model and the graphical models are two different things, right?
How do you tackle the corkscrew in Laguna Seca?
>>384706892
Thats why i said tire model, not the mesh.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H2zGGUdfrA
Physics are still too canned, but at least the RF2 model is not a nascar 2003 polish (iracing) or a half fixed bugged piece of shit that skips calculations like netkar pro (AC).
>>384706970
It's all about the braking before hitting the peak of that hill. It's always so sneaky because you can't see the first turn due to it being behind the hill.
>>384706970
go slow. The end.
>>384706686
I know what you're takling about. Almost all of the corners won't allow small mistakes like carrying slightly too much speed, or turning in at a slightly different angle. Due to the speed in which they are taken, and to the road surface, most corners require full commitment to go through optimally, and any differentiation from the optimal line and speed leads to severe understeer and other things which , also due to the road surface, leads to great time loss to correct.
For this reason I'm not much of a fan of the track, myself. It doesn't feel much like driving a car on road, but more like driving a train on rails. A train which will get you off the rails and crash at any mistake.
>>384706703
But AC doesn't show the tyres deforming visually
>>384706781
Yep, there's not much room for doubt when you hit the apex just right and accelerate away. On another note, blind corners such as that one have this effect of really training you on visualization, it's pretty cool for that too. Summit Point Raceway also has a curvy section with plenty of different ways to go about it where you need to visualize ahead to one to two corners ahead of you to make the best out of your current line and speed. Simulators are pretty cool for this kind of experience I wouldn't really get anywhere else, not without a bunch of money. It translates really well into real life traffic, too.
>>384701992
like 8:35 in a rs4
>>384706703
Can I ask a question? On automobilista, the sunspension on the open wheel cars move visually as if they ran on 10 fps, and it's really weird. Now comparing to that webm of AC, and seeing anons here mention that render =/= physics, can I assume that the actual suspension at work on automobilista works on a much higher rate than what they visually seem to?
>>384701992
8 mins 14 seconds in R3E.
>>384701992
8 mins 13 seconds in R3E.
>>384708769
>can I assume that the actual suspension at work on automobilista works on a much higher rate than what they visually seem to?
The physics models in all simulators tend to run a much higher frequencies than even the full 60 Hz of the graphics engine. They are generally not tied to the animation models so I would say that is a safe assumption, though I have no specific evidence in Automobilista's case to back it up.
>>384709486
That's a relief seeing as how much I was mindfucked when I noticed the suspension moving cinematically like that on Automobilista. Made me wonder at how far off we were from making an actual racing simulator, and how retarded I must've been by not noticing it while driving.
You've put me at ease, anon.
