I got a copy of the Legacy Edition pre-ordered too, but I have this feeling they are gonna cancel it.
No problem. I'll just stand up early on September 15th and call all local retailers. Someone's gonna have at least one in stock. (Our local Toys R Us doesn't accept pre-orders for example.)

Already heard about Coolshop cancelations.
I ordered from Thalia, which is a book store chain. They're probably not very deep into the matter of video games, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just listed the Legacy Edition without even thinking about nerds pre-ordering in masses.
As I said, I'm not too worried. Metroid isn't the hottest video game franchise under the sun. Some retailer is gonna have a copy left.
And even if I fail to grab a Legacy Edition, I'm still happy Metroid is back. The game is after all still the most important part of the Legacy Edition.

You'll miss out on the 3D though. Most people do not care about the 3DS' auto-stereoscopic feature, but I personally always loved it. It's supposedly very good looking on the new Metroid game too.

Right now at amazon galaxy style new 3ds xl is on sale for barley more than the 2ds XL. I got it for 214 canadian just now, instead of 200 for the 2ds XL. You'd be silly not to go for the better option. It also has better speaker placement, 3D (obviously), heftier design and a human sized stylus instead of hobbit. Also a possibility of getting an IPS screen. I did lots of research before buying. 14 dollars dude.
