I somehow missed Lords of Shadow 2, even though I thought the first was pretty good.

Was it shit or just kind of derivative?
>>
>>384689387
The Castle parts are great, combat is a major improvement in every way, modern day city parts are dogshit, music visibly inferior for the most part, shorter, story is pantsu on head silly, final boss and ending are disappointing as fuck.
>>
>>384689387
It killed the reboot universe so what do you think
>>
>>384689598
Also to add to that, you can turn off highlighting hints and QTEs unlike in the first game, there's also like 3 or 4 forces stealth sections that are quite stupid.

Shit,I forgot that's where they were going with it.

Oh well, I'll still play it I guess.
>>

The game was marketed as being the last chapter in the lords of shadow "saga".

1, mirror of fate, and 2 are all that were planned.

Anyway OP its worth finishing but has questionable design choices. Every time the game makes you possess a rat you die a little inside.

Everything about the city parts felt like you were playing the wrong game or something that was cobbled together with assets from a different, cancelled one and there's one plothole and logic error after another.
>>
>>384689387
The parts in the past where you are on the castle are fine, the game goes to complete shit when you enter the modern city, this happened because the director went insane because Kojima picked his studio to make Castlevania and he kept fighting with the rest of the devs until half his studio simply left.

They also somehow ruined the design of Lucifer by making his a fat ass metal album cover
>>
>>384689890
The game is divided about 60% Castle and 40% Modern city if it's any consolation.

>>384689897
>this reddit spacing
Disgusting
>>
Isn't this the one that kicked off that whole controversy when an SJW """games journalist""" interviewing the developers felt that Dracula doing what Dracula has been doing since existing in lore from the 1800s was Literally Rape and the fact that the developers were making the game meant they were promoting rape in real life?
>>
>>
>>384690042
>They also somehow ruined the design of Lucifer by making his a fat ass metal album cover
I actually liked that part, with Lucifer lifting for all those years in hell to prepare for a rematch so he won't get wrecked. And then when you actually get to fight him again he shits his pants. It was fun knowing that Gabriel gave him such a huge PTSD and inferiority complex.

The worst was the one in the garden. The fucker knew you were there so the idea of hiding from him was retarded to begin with and you kill him not even a minute later.

In defense of that part, it was the only one that was actually quite decent in requiring good timing and the player being clever and utilizing your powers. As in, it was the only one that felt like a true stealth section. The others fetl horribly tacked on.
If it were me, I'd leave the tutorial one at the start of the game since it makes sense plot-wise due to you being weak as fuck, and the one in Pan's bro's garden but remove the other ones.

Literally half of the company (including most of the talent like lead art designer and art director) quit the company halfway into production due to the CEO being literally insane and powerhungry more than a saturday morning cartoon villain.
There's an interview online with an anonymous employee, I'm sure you can find it if you google.

Game's negatives were seriously overblown because they lend themselves easily to FORCED STEALTH SEGMENT bullshit. It's an alright game otherwise, but definitely inferior to the first one.

Should have gotten to learn more about him and the Belmont line since Simon
>>
>>384692030
He did, there's info in that interview I mentioned earlier as well as leftovers in the files themselves.
He was meant to be Julius Belmont (just a different one in LoSVerse, not the original one obviously) and be the one to beat up Dracula at the end, Alucard was meant to die along with Satan, and Dracula captured by Julius was to be kept by the Church imprisoned forever, cut up into hundreds of little pieces and walled in. Last scene was supposed to be the blood on the ground starting to move to form back together implying that Dracula is regaining strength, cut to black, roll credits.

PC version at least has 60 FPS, removed QTEs for the most part and upgraded lighting.

You forget the medieval first level where you're the full blown evil Dracula and that lasts about an hour, maybe less. The one that ends with Dracula out-praying the paladin guy.

Blame the Twilight generation. It ruined vampires for at least a decade.

>>384693676
Well, LoS2's opening level is as close as it gets.
>>
>>384693580
It was a shockingly bad article that painted the devs as misogynists. I think Mercurysteam sucks but it was terribly tasteless.
>>
>>384693594
I didn't really consider it evil, just dickish on his part but to be expected since he was being attacked for supposedly being the ultimate evil even though he really didn't act the way most of the time and just preferd to stay holed in his castle while his demons somehow did whatever the fuck they wanted with no actual regard for him
>>
It shat the bed really bad. How can you fuck up this badly is beyond my comprehension. The premise was interesing: You are Dracula and Satan is seeking revenge on you.

The modern city segments reeked of shitty B action vampire movies, the castle segments were good though and I wished we had more of that. The combat is pretty much the same as LoS but a bit more smooth and with more variety. Forget about the open world bullshit cause it really isn't even though it was marketed as such.
>>
>>384693937
Patrick Stewart was the best part, any time he's present the game was enjoyable.
>>
>>384694036
Both Stewart and Carlyle did an excellent job in both games actually. Too bad the plot in LoS2 took a nose dive halfway through.
>>
>>384693821
MoF makes it rather explicitly clear that it was him that actually unleashed the armies on the populace, but pretty much only because Brotherhood pre-emptively attacked him first and manipulated Trevor without telling him the truth which caused him to die (at that point Dracula thought he was too late to revive him and that Trevor did in fact die).
Simon's story further reinforces that with Dracula's armies ravaging the land and shit and being directly responsible for death of Simon's mother.

>>384693937
The castle sections are pretty interconnected though, just in a tad more linear fashion ala OE castle.

>>384694319
LoS2's shortcomings are pretty much entirely to be blamed on two things.
1. The CEO of MercurySteam who also directed the game being a power hungry lunatic that drove shitton of people to just leave.
2. Konami cutting funding mid development due to themselves getting a new CEO that wanted to focus on Pachinko machines instead.

Honestly I believe that if the CEO and Konami were taken out of equation, we'd get a MUCH better game.

>>384690987

When will they learn?
>>
>tfw no game where you play as Dracula and can design your newest incarnation of Castlevania
>get to hire bosses, upgrade it, plan on how to deal with the latest Belmont coming to try and fuck your shit up
>starts at the earliest Belmont lineage and keeps going with new Belmonts through the centuries
>later time periods open up new things to do with your Castle and expands gameplay options, traps, etc
Anyone else would play the shit out of that?
>>
All things considered, you can't deny that the castle parts were extremely good.
Alucard's DLC even more, being entirely in the castle for starters.

Anon, Konami and SEGA are world's biggest manufacturers and providers of gambling machines.
And to answer your question, most of Japanese companies are owned by Yakuza.
Yakuza are so assimilated into Japanese system that if you were to remove them, the country would collapse overnight because they're even in the government.
