The sticks and button pads wear over time but besides that there is literally nothing wrong with the N64 controller. It's pretty fucking fantastic.

They are not wrong the Hori Controller is much better

The N64 controller isn't the best design obviously but it's still perfectly fine to handle as long as you hold it properly.

The controller is obviously poorly designed, but only a minority of games ever required constant or quick use of the d-pad so I never got all the hate.

For many the dealbreaker was the terrible joystick. Even if you didn't make use of the dpad in regular play that stick was complete garbage. I remember fucking the shit out of my thumbs many times just by using the the thing.
