I think Diamond Dogs seem cooler, some about MSF just seemed too sterile - they didn't feel as rag-tag as DD did, which is what I like about the mercenary aesthetic. You get this feeling in Far Cry 2.

I got that for fultoning S-Ranks as well. I think it the messages are the same for all soldiers, and only has alternate lines for a prisoner or a mission target (including special enemies like Man on Fire, Skulls, or the wandering MSF soldiers).

He'd would be up against DD for the agile melee combat role, and everyone would choose a canine buddy over some cloaked slasher guy. The doctor at the start of the game clearly says it's a massive risk to have it removed. Why would he even bother trying to remove it later anyways?

How does Venom Snake not recognize Quiet as the assassin from the beginning of the game? If Quiet can "store" sunlight/energy for use at night, why not just sit under a tanning bed for a few hours and spent the rest of her time dressing normally? If she can't speak, why did she refuse to use sign language or just write down messages? Why didn't she signal the chopper with morse code from tapping something nearby? All pilots are trained to know morse code, and as a former expert assassin she surely would have known it as well.

I like all the MGS games, but there's such a large disconnect between all of them it's hard to imagine them as the same continuity. MGSV should have dropped the Venom Snake/Big Boss arc completely and just had your completely custom Merc outfit doing stuff in Africa.

They should just remaster the old games like they did with Snake Eaters stupid pachinko version to fix these inconsistencies.

It's STRONGLY implied in the game that Venom Snake idolized Big Boss, but has come to realize at a subconscious level how evil and despicable he's become, given that everything he sees in Big Boss he psychologically labels as demonic. I would have loved to see this expanded upon, given that in the (non-canon?) nuclear disarmament ending you can see Venom loses his sanity and projects his values on the real Big Boss, which would explain his loyalty until you consider that once Big Boss brings him in as a lieutenant at Outer Heaven he'd be unable to reconcile the real Big Boss being everything Venom avoided becoming.

Because of Volgin pouring tons of money into the Shagohad and other weapons programs, and almost starting WW3 by dropping that nuke, the rest of the world also started developing weapons faster than we did in real life. Technology degrading between the Big Boss games and the Solid Snake games are because of the Patriots erasing documentation and knowledge of this advanced technology from the world, in order to carry ensure better control over society

Are you referring to MGS4? The US has officially adopted the XM8 as their service rifle and stopped using AR-15 platform weapons, with some PMCs still using the M4, another difference from our reality. Also, this isn't Metal Gear Rising yet wherein everyone's a cyborg, plate carriers are still useful when most of your enemies are shooting common rifle ammo.

Considering that Solid never knew that Venom and Naked Snake were different people, and Venom declares himself the leader of Outer Heaven as well as FOXHOUND, explaining why he sent Snake there and saying he'll kill him, it doesn't seem likely. Especially considering the lot of Big Boss's crimes actually being visible in Outer Heaven and carrying over to Zanzibar. Honestly, a karma-based ending in which you're either loyal to the end or go rogue against Big Boss with a cover to the MSX plotholes would've been fucking awesome and wouldn't make the ending feel so rushed and incomplete.

Every halfway-modern country passed laws which said every gun had have the weapon-locking technology, and every soldier / police force had to be using the SOP nanomachines, and if you weren't an approved user, the gun wouldn't work. This wasn't made up just for MGS4, this is also why Solid Snake couldn't shoot his guns in the nuclear missile room in MGS1.
The countries that didn't agree? PMC's got sent in to pacify any resistance. This is why the Rebels in Acts 1 and 2 got steamrolled, using ancient Soviet surplus weapons that didn't have the weapon-locks, unless you stepped in and helped them fight each battle.

Seems to be story progress, as you advance soldiers in the field get better. By the end of the game just about everyone you find will be at least A rank.

If you've got the DLCs you get some A rank soldiers automatically at certain points in the story. I think the earliest like the fourth mission so you should already have them. They all have face tattoos.
