that's what I'm trying to figure out and I can't find a real answer. I asked hbg to no avail. I hadn't played anything since I finished Apocalypse a few months ago. decided to boot the 3ds up and got the Luma settings menu for some reason. turned it back off and when I turned it on again it brought me to a nand with nothing on it but default apps and the title manager.

if I try to boot into an emunand I just get a black screen.

also check if the sd slot of the handheld still works reliably. they have a way of dying on you if you remove the cards often. i only ftp over wifi now because i don't want it to crap out on me.

If in bed, place a firm pillow on your stomach/chest and play with the 3ds on the pillow. Basically, you want the pillow to support the weight of the 3ds entirely and just use your hands to keep it from falling over. It completely relieves tension from holding the console in the air. I can play for 4-5 hours like that without hand/wrist pain. If you're playing in a sitting position, you'll need a chair with armrests and maybe a firm pillow on your crotch or thighs if the armrests are too high. I have a gaymer chair and it's super comfy for playing my 3dsxl. It leans back, the armrests are adjustable. It's like playing in bed.

I'd say the N3DS XL, because the N2DS is a cheaper version it's build quality suffers a bit
Although if you're only playing pokemon on it, I doubt you'd really notice that much

Also worth noting that all N2DS XLs ship with a firmware that isn't easily hackable

Is $40-50 worth losing 3D and any chances of getting an IPS display? If yes, it's a good buy. Luckily I found a n3DSxl for only 160 euros brand new. Unfortunately I got both TN displays, but I'm over it.

I don't know if emunands actually got broken, but it's a seriously outdated method of hacking by now
a9lh and b9s are the new methods, they run before the sysnand runs, and patches CFW directly onto it, and prevents the console from updating the core files to break it
I have no fucking clue how you'd update from it though, especially now that you're having issues

Forgot to answer this. Right now there's no easy way to play games for free because all 2ds xl consoles come with version 11.4 or 11.5. You can still hack it, but you can't install freeshop. This will probably change in the near future.

Really depends if you think you'll get enough out of the slightly better processing power and SNES VC
I only upgraded this year because the rubber on my circle pad was coming off and I was getting into MonHun
I still haven't really made much use of it though, short of injecting some snes games, but I really enjoy the XL size a lot more

I feel weird about reccing Bravely Second because it's one of those games that's like "I loved it, BUT..."

pros:

>treats the world and returning characters well enough
>elaborates on plot threads in the first game
>Yew is pretty cute
>Magnolia is pretty cute

>music is okay but a downgrade
>even though you can eventually catch em all, having to choose between asterisks sucked

BS feels like a gaiden game to me (which isn't BAD imo, just how it feels). Something that is fluff material for the "real" games, Bravely Default and the eventual Bravely Third.

Be advised that the xl version of the N3DS has a glossy finish that will eventually peel off. The regular sized has a matte finish wich is much superior
