Do people just not grow up with turnbased games anymore?
Idiots need instant gratification.
Does XCOM count?
it was never good

Strategy games played in turns and "push the play button on your controller to watch an attack " are very different. One of them has engaging gameplay!

Turn based is still superior, team combat in real time is a grab ass and the ai is always retarded.

i dont mind turn-based if it's well done and there's actually strategy involved
a lot of turn based RPGs are braindead as fuck and revolve around spamming your best move and then healing when your health drops low

Turn-based isn't fun to watch others play. The /v/agabonds from reddit only appreciate games this way, so of course they shit on it.
Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with turn based combat. It just doesn't personally interest me. The only turn based games I've played are some past pokemon games, like ruby and pearl. Training and evolving my pokemon was really the reason that kept me hooked and playing despite the combat.
Another one that I played was South Park stick of truth. I found the combat there surprisingly fun due to how involved it was. Nothing mind blowing, but needing to press buttons to do successful attacks was enough to make the combat enjoyable for me.
Choosing attacks and watching animations play out isn't really the most interesting thing to me. But I don't think games of it's type should die, they very well have a place in the industry. Persona 5 did pretty well, didn't it?

Most of the games I play now are turn based, shit's great. Action combat gets kind of tiring.
