As someone who strongly prefers NV, I think this is a perfectly fine opinion. If you want to just explore and shoot people in the face both games are exactly what you're looking for.

Fallout 3 is better than Oblivion but it's still a rather mediocre RPG. NV has much better designed quests that often have multiple solutions that can be reached through certain player character skills rather than relying on having the player gun down some monsters like Fallout 3 does making it a much more unique experience every time you play it. The world is more believable and coherent. The factions are more dynamic and react to player decisions.
Perhaps Fallout 3 gets more hate than it deserves but in comparison with NV it's simply the worse designed RPG.

That's what made it fun. The worst thing about the neo-fallouts is they don't even remotely capture the difficulty of exploring an irradiated mutant and raider filled wasteland. You could go literally anywhere in fo1 and 2, it would be hard but you'd get better shit and you'd be more likely to survive the harder enemies.
In all the neo fallouts all of the enemies are level-scaled, so they're always too weak to do shit to you, and their drops are equally garbage being at best slightly better than what you already have for boring constant steamrolling for enemies, and the games are fundamentally linear as fuck (especially nv) so there's really no risk of biting off more than you can chew.

Think about it. Oblivion was a step backwards in almost everyway from Morrowind. Sure, they made a few very simple upgrades, but downgraded a lot of the systems that made Morrowind fun.

Skyrim at least made some improvements in the way the game worked. As far as magic/combat/leveling systems go:

That is the core of the game. If we could merge Morrowind and Skyrim's systems it would be great. Oblivion literally took Morrowind's system, removed the shitty and outdated dice roll melee and then just made everything else worse by removing features.

To be fair deus ex has been loved by /v/ for most of it's history.
New vegas has always been an even-enough split, which only grew wider when the fans kept trying to hold their shitty game over other people's shitty game.

What the fuck are you talking about? Deus Ex never has that many solutions to problems. For Deus Ex the 3-5 number is closer to accurate, for IW it's 2-4.

People hated IW because of it's enormously dumbed down gameplay, from the removal of skills to the way implants work to the level design and gameplay in general. Nobody complained about there not being enough options and if they did then they have a very warped memory of Deus Ex, as you seem to.

I really wish I could play New Vegas, but it's just too horrifically ugly.

I enjoyed NV, but Witcher 3 is definitely overrated. It takes all the good things about open-world games and removes approximately half of the experience by forcing the player to use a scripted protagonist with predefined personality traits and his own backstory. Not everyone can identify with Geralt. Also, too much waifu shit.
