Just finished the game last week and I was so disappointed, considering how much /v/ hypes it up.
I loved some of the characters and the voice acting was in parts better than any other game but everything else felt cheap and low quality and I didn't feel like I had enough control over the story and my playstyle.
Why do people rate it so highly? Are other 'classic' WRPGs going to be as disappointing as this was?
Also why the fuck were there so few quests with damsel?

I do wish that they'll make a new more expansive game with modern graphics though since I can see the potential of a game like this.

It's a blue balling experience. Parts of it make me adore it, but some elements of the gameplay and lategame make me feel a deep sensation of regret and apathy.

The good times of the game make it up for me though, and I can't help but feel passionate about it despite its flaws.
Maybe you jumped in expecting too much from it and got disappointed? Personally I was lukewarm about it at first, dropped it because I didn't like my clan and my build; and when I returned to it later, is when it really grew on me.

That said, I also dislike most of the end game post-chinatown. But I really like until the Giovanni mission.

Yes, last E3 they even showed some concept art like this and how Rage was being implemented as a game mechanic. Nothing else shown though, but an interview states that the structure will definitely be similar to Bloodlines which is good to hear for some people.

That's the thing about Bloodlines, it is one of the few great games that was also plagued by development issues. They had to use an inferior build of the Source engine, money ran out, and worst of all Activision was fucking them in the ass all the way through. It's why the game devolves into combat-heavy corridors around halfway through the game despite it also keeping a lot of the story and dialogue true to heart.
Also for those of you who haven't played it yet, don't give Activision your money, pirate it because every time somebody buys the game off steam or gog they rake in 100% of the profit on a game they had a hand in fucking over.

They can but the thing is that their upper limit is extremely short compared to other PC choices in the overall series, which is made even worse because all the enemies they fight in their specific game line are even tougher than them. That's why Nines survived the werewolf attack and was like "damn I'm cool".
