As a former source modder, I can see why:
Basically source engine modding has been turbofucked since steampipe update and it only keeps breaking further and further. The SDK keeps breaking and modding for source has just become a time consuming chore.

One of the biggest things about GoldSrc is that you can make stuff quickly even with its old limits (sven has several upgrades like bigger map sizes). For example several full sven campaigns complete with custom NPC's & Weapons have been released in the fraction of the time it would take in source. Also there is some new mapping/asset creation tools too. Lowpoly maps & assets you can get out the door quickly and easily. Sure it may not be as good looking but its DONE. Also HL1 weaponset + OPFOR weaponset that sven allows makes it fun as fuck. Way better than the HL2 weaponset.

They have been pushing VR super hard with Source2 but Im getting the feeling that all is not well and its stuck in some kind of dev hell. About nearly 2 years ago there was some paper on the VR technologies but ive almost heard nothing ever since. Not to mention that for how long source2 has been in dev for and even those VR demos that were released its not really impressive at all. Like even the older frostbite or cryengine or UE4 looks better.

I was hyped for Source2 since its been talked about since like over 5 years ago and confirmed around 2013ish but its just fallen behind and regular sourcemodding is dying rapidly (a lot of dev teams gave up and went to UDK).

Also seeing how badly they treated the sourcemodding community with "lol you figure it out and fill in our wiki for us" I wouldn't be surprised if source2 modding is another clusterfuck.

I think it all has to do with how certain people have certain tastes. For example, you said you like lolis and straight furries. To me both of those options are repulsive. Fapping to lolis would make me feel disgusting, even though my brain knows it's just a bunch of pixels some artist made. Furries I've just never liked, not really sure why. I'm sure there's some event or some predisposition you have that causes you to like those things that I simply don't have.

So let's move to why I like xenos. They're limber yet powerful. Creepy and yet they seem so intimate. I think some of it is a dominance thing. Who would mess with someone who fucked the smartest and most deadly organism in the whole galaxy? I also like their design, I think it's pretty neat. Beyond that I don't really know what to say.

You also have to keep in mind a lot of porn humanizes xenos to varying degrees. Some look very human while others stay true to the original design. It's all up to the person drawing its tastes.
