we never got vf5r because it stayed in japanese arcades. we did eventually get vf5fs on console but it was much later and the community was dead by then.
the port was ok but player rooms were fucked because no one could join if a match was going on. this greatly hurt the game's ability to bring in new players because the only other option was fighting pros on ranked.

Well 4 was complete shit because counter risk/reward was fucked and few hits staggered so you could counter guess multiple times and if you managed to get a counter the damage was extremely high so it evened out in the end.

Sitting on your own dick was a more enjoyable experience than DOA4.

unfortunately it's a longstanding ancient meme to not respect doa as a fighter because of the tits, and Last Round has had so much DLC you couldn't use every one of those costumes in a match within your whole lifetime.

/v/ had some rather notorious waifufags as well who made DOA threads all about porn and anitwitter-tier "i want x to step on me" and "i love soandso!" and so on. Made it difficult for people to take DOA threads seriously.

Marie and Honoka also make discussing DOA difficult now, because of how their popularity has cast a long shadow on the fans who dislike their sudden stardom. Japan meanwhile is completely in love with them to the point they are basically the poster girls replacing ayane and kasumi.

i don't personally find them any more annoying or vapid than any of the other DOA girls. nyotengu hardly has any characterization either, but she's overtly sexual rather than being a moeblob so mysteriously nobody complains about her

It's a port of the PS3 version for god knows why so it's missing all the LR stages and graphical enhancements. It didn't have online for six months after release, and when they finally patched it in, there's no lobbies or anything else besides random ranked.

Textures and effects are a mixture of PS3 & PS4 because it's a port of the arcade version. Online lobbies don't exist, so if you want to play a friend you have to search at the same time and hope that you're randomly paired up otherwise you have to keep trying. Luckily no one plays online so it's easier to do than usual.

Because it's a half-way port between PS3/4 the stages added in the PS4 version aren't in and certain costume effects, like the exploding clothes from the SK pack, don't have the added effects despite the costume packs costing the same or sometimes more.

The netcode will randomly not connect you to games and sometimes crash the game completely. They were working on a fix but then randomly changed the beta version to the full version and it has been left broken ever since.

I'm still working on beating the PC version. It's free and I like Kasumi so I figure for that price I should at least put in the time to beat it on 4 stars. I can almost do it, but just not without continues yet.
