you got to play the alpha too? I did last week, and I was pleasantly surprised by the landscape and effect art (except for the owl's tornado attack). The game also had its own unique 'feel' that was a nice detail. Can't really explain it otherwise.

I was less impressed by the connection failure dropping me solo into a 4 man hunt and seeing 4 moves over the course of 18 minutes and not fearing for my life once. That fucking sucked.

On the other hand, the firedog hunt was so fast with 4 people that I didn't see it ever catch fire. I dunno. I'll wait till it's out before making final judgements.

I'm currently learning the heavy bowgun in XX. Feels like a difficult weapon to use effectively, especially in single player. I used the testosterone bow in X and it just felt too cheap. I personally have edited, but only after I've hunted everything at least once. I try not to farm them while progressing either. Done that way, it becomes fun (for me, anyway) to squeeze in another level of a skill if I can manage it, and encourages going out of my way to farm for some jewels I might not have considered otherwise. I view charms as a nice bonus, rather than a totally required part of your gear. Until endgame anyway.

I have such a problem with maining a weapon. I used to play SnS for a while but I felt sort of burned out and tried so many of them and I feel confident with a few of them.

RX X X A A A, repeat. That's literally the only combo. Cut it short with X+A if you don't have enough time to finish. There's also barely any positioning because the weapon is so short range the sweet spot is literally right in front of your hunter. Just hug the part you want to attack and combo away. If you're not using Striker style why wouldn't you be? then you can throw in a backhop charge for shits and giggles to look cool.

The superior MH3U is a excellent game launched on a dead-born console.
The 3DS opus is great too even without online.

they were weak to water so i made the water DS and change some gear to amplified the damage, and a fuck ton of traps + dung bomb

typically when it is duo monster they have less HP so they die a bit faster but you need to make sure to fight only one at a time if possible

also i enjoy playing arena so i got a lot of practice fighting both monster at the same time
and when 3u happened you can only play multiplayer locally so i pretty much solo g rank from start to finish

My issue with Garuga is the wings(white extract), actually. Depending on the size, using a pheromone shot is almost mandatory, given how much it moves around. I had the displeasure of doing G6 Deadeye Garuga with a friend a while ago, it was probably the most un-fun experience I've ever had with the weapon.

For Deviljho's head, I used to think the same. It's been easy ever since I realized that the tremor attack it does brings its head very close to the ground, so it's pretty much a free red juice, as long as you see it coming.

What's the appeal of any kind of sword? They're supposed to be versatile but really they're just sharp sticks. An axe has heavier cutting force, a hammer is better at dealing with armor or just breaking shit.

Many sword were designed to be used against unarmored or lightly armored enemies where cuts are effective. Once plate armor became common swords were relegated to sidearms. At least sword can be somewhatbuseful against heavily armored opponents by stabbing weak points (many late medieval swords are designed for this) where as axes are pretty much shitty maces here.
