If the dialogue was localized faithfully then it would get more criticism for being boring, which the developers could potential notice and fix in later installments. To be honest, I don't care all that much. I still enjoyed the story in games like Awakening, Xenoblade X, etc. Didn't get #FE though, as that seemed a little extreme. I just wish they'd stop treating everyone like children.

a direct translation removes emotion and other implications unique to a language

its like if an american tv show uses an idiom, say "its raining cats and dogs", anybody in any other language if given that straight without localization would just be confused to the phrase's meaning and simply putting a translator note would break its flow, ruin immersion, and take interest away from the actual conversation
so instead media doesn't do that could translate the sentence to something else that means "its raining pretty hard outside"

but you see it doesn't stop there, theres more meaning to the phrase "its raining cats and dogs" then just "its raining pretty hard outside" let me explain with a separate example:

lets say theres a american tv show where a young character speaks in third person, in english that's considered childish and cute but in other languages it isn't necessarily the case
