How much would you pay for a mod?
I bought DayZ
>>384610748
what mod is pic related?
>>384610748
Depends on the scope of the mod, but generally nothing.

I don't even pay for my games, why would I pay for a mod?
>>384612251
It's Ion Maiden, a commercial game from Duke Nukem 3D mod community, release SOON
>>384610748
>pay
>mod
Ha ha oh wow.

I would donate money to the modder if it was high quality enough.
Pay for it though? Nah, man.
$0.00
Mods should remain a labor of love and freely available; a playground for young wannabe game designers to improve their skill or discover that it's not the career path they want to take. Modding is enough of a legal gray zone, accepting payments is asking to get buttraped by lawyers. Not just by the publisher of the game in question, but also the copyright owners of other assets used in mods. It's not always going to be the sanctioned environment Bethesda is trying to create. Nintendo will go down on Nexus for selling pokemon mods for Skyrim or whatever.
If a modder wants or "deserves" to get paid for their work, make your own fucking game. Unity, Unreal, Gamemaker, RPG Maker, whatever the fuck. You have the resources, no excuses. Saying modders should get paid is like saying fan fiction writers should get paid. If you write a really good fan fiction, rework it into an original story before selling it.
Stop, just fucking stop trying to fuck up modding. It is now and always a bad idea to jam a market into it. Fucking christ, I can't believe something so stupid has been given such consideration.
Depends on the quality and size of the mod of course. I agree with what others say about how they should remain free, but if i was going to donate any money to a mod it would probably be $60 towards tamriel rebuilt for morrowind. Even if its not going to be completed for another 10 years those guys are doing great hard work and i think they should be rewarded

Depends on its scale.
A mere mod for another game? Nothing.
A "Total Conversion" mod? Depends on its quality and size.
FYI, games like BLOOD and Shadow Warrior can be said to be TCs of Duke3D. Same with Counter-Strike being a TC mod for HL1.

Actually, OP pic is a game from EDuke32 devs/modders with a legal agreement with 3D Realms. It's kinda a glorified mod
>>384610748
>uses the same engine
>completely new assets
>mod
Isn't that what Shadow Warrior and Blood were
>>384615665
>Same engine
>It's a heavily modified version of Build in actual development
>>384614360
You people do realize that stuff like half life opposing force are mods right
