Thing is the most important stuff to learn in this game is matchup knowledge this will be the center pillar of how you play against people, and even though the tutorial and trials are godlike you will need to fight people a lot. There is tons of character specific things and set ups which you have to learn and get accustomed with.

More story mode content, new arcade stories for a few characters, ranked being FT2 if you want, being able to search for ranked while in practice mode, no longer have to be in a world lobby just to go do player matches, and they just updated the game to have a in game combo maker where you can make your own recipes for practice.

If you are in this thread saying "no one is playing" what you have to understand is that you don't play these niche fighting games like LoL or SC2 by hitting the "ranked matchmaking" button, you have to go find the people playing it and ask them to play you. For this game specifically, search for player lobbies or if your autism is low key enough that you trust yourself in a crowd join the discord server and ask people there to play you, I know with 100% certainty that the latter option will allow you to easily play unless your only window is like 2 am weekdays or something. If you are the kind of person with a lifestyle where if you can't get a game within 2 minutes during your one 30 minute break a day I feel for you, but you are going to need to find another game because unfortunately that just won't work in this game or niche fighting games like it, but if you have an hour or two and the patience to wait 5-10 minutes you will be able to drudge someone up to play with you 90% of the time if you are willing to go find the community and don't need a "find game for me button". I don't say that to be condescending, it's great to be able to do that in games with the population, these just aren't those games, and lacking it doesn't mean the game is dead or there is no one to play with, it just means you have to put in some effort to do it. If that isn't for you, fair enough, save yourself the money and pick up something with a much larger population.

Try to do TK fortissimo (ino air super) on stick then pad. Chances are you'll have to slow down on pad to get it come out because you'll going too fast. It becomes especially apparent with any 360 motions. Pad grapplers can churn faster than any stick could easy. It's the inherit bonus to pad. You're just more comfortable with stick.

As a newb I had this problem with SFV but I once Rev clicked (around 5 hours in) I was actually amazed how simple it is.
The combo system is very free flow. Sure there is probably optimal stuff, but you don't have to do that (unlike in SF).
I find that you have a lot of options about what combos into what.
Somebody once said, think about it as a guitar solo.

Order Sol and funny thing is if there wasn't a mid poll results reveal he would have won over Dizzy. After it was shown though everyone started taking sides and pushed Dizzy, Baiken and Bridget. Bridget mainly had FAB leading that push because he wanted Ruu to have his old main back. You know, literally the only person to actually play GG and main Bridget. Rest of Mikado arcade went for Dizzy and everyone out of it went for Baiken.

She's an okizeme momentum rushdown character with optimal combos being very character specific on timing (more-so than a majority of cast), having natural 14+ hit combos with probably the hardest IAD link in the game as core to BnB. You can cheese her and play well at mid level using dive combos instead but being unable to do IAD combos really stifles her potential. She's easily one of the best characters in game, right up there with chipp but you have to put in a lot of work for her. She's definitely easier now then she was, but that's not saying much.

I don't get the "GG is hard to get into as a begginer" meme. Last fighting games I played were MvC2 & Powerstone on Dreamcast and Tekken3 on PS1 and learning to actually play a fighting game for the first time with GG hasn't been hard at all. Of course I can't do an air combo to save my life, or perfectly execute special skills every time, but I didn't expect to only 20-25 hours in.

I picked up a pocket bridget, and I regretted it after a month. You grind your guts out for 2f frc bnb corners that do like 90dmg, than immediately go into Rodger setplay and then run away for the rest of the round once you get a lead. Bridge has to be the only character in the game unfun to play both as (due to lack of reward because he does no fucking damage) and against.

Hazama is quite literally a fixed version of Bridget (better buttons, can't run away as easily, has reward, no setplay).

Got it yesterday, now I gotta get me a better controller cause my ol one is kinda busted and I'm noticing a little bit of delay with some inputs.

Ive been buying gg xrd since sign and i always stop playing because no matter what i do i can never beat leo, sin and johnny players unless they are complete shiters or unless im playing axl. Because playing solely one character at all times is boring as fuck to me but every other character feels extremely weak if compared to the top characters, the matches always drag on and people rarely play anyone else. Nah man PS4 is still around 3-4 delay versus PC's 1. Most online warriors on PS4 only tolerate 2f delay since you're already up to 5-6 delay versus pc which can go up to 4f to play more. If you buy PS4 you basically have to out a lot of connections because after 6f the game gets really rough as fuck.

If you want to be able to at least put up a fight against good players, you'll have to sink in thousands of hours and actively look at what you're doing wrong and correct it. I've been playing GG since 1999/ while I'm not EVO levels of skill and never will be. I am above the intermediate in terms of skill and experience helps cover the rest where it counts. Helping newer players get started has been really rewarding. I introduced this one guy I became friends with about a year ago and now he's an intermediate level Ky and Johnny player.

I also spent a good amount of my youth being a GG lorefag back when you had to brave personal, multi language blogs in 2004-2006 internet. There was a GG thread last night where I (hopefully) helped a few fledgling lorefags find a good starting place.

There's a lot of fun stuff to find. But I think what personally drew me to it, was the fact that all GG characters have amazing character arcs over the 17+ years of a really good mid 90s anime. A lot of that comes from the fact that Daisuke sees GG as a personal project and that was something I really responded to when I was young. Having a great fighting game with an interesting and memorable aesthetic to tie it all together at the core is what keeps GG alive. The lore is that extra, optional bit that some people just really enjoy.

It depends where you're located and what time you play. Here's a few tips.

1. Don't bother with ranked, most players just want to get straight into lining up for matches. Player Match lobbies are the way to go.

2. The steam version is a bit easier on frame delay out of your area. While a good chunk of this is dependant on your own ISP, I personally can get regular matches with a friend from Italy (I'm on the US East Coast) in under 3 frames of delay. However depending on your area the PS4 version might be more populated. Generally the US East and West coasts have the highest regular lobby activity.

3. Be ready to get in on a small community. You're going to be dissapointed if you're expecting to be able to leave a match request beacon open and play random after random. The trial mode gives basic combos for you to practice for the character of your choice, of you're new to fighting games definitely ignore the advanced combos as they're not practical without alot of practice anyway.

Besides that its just practice, the more you play the better you will become.

Also I recommend investing in an arcade stick if you have the money, if its out of the question you can still become a decent player without it though but personally I felt it was dramatically more comfortable when buying my first stick.

The music is good so okay.
