No new traps, no new dungeon mechanics, no new mimics, no new deception, absolutely nothing to fuck with the people who have played the games before.

I didn't buy 3; I was a fucking hack and bought 2. It is a mark of shame to be a fan of this franchise after all this bullshit and its DLC.

I'm actually enjoying DS3 even more than I did DS, and I adored DS. Granted, I'm only 20 hours into it, but it feels infinitely more cohesive and real as an environment.

No, I did some fucking research to see if they did anything new. And they didn't.

Same infinite piles of useless treasure that aren't exciting. They brought back nothing that was good from DS2. Useless references to DS1 that make no fucking sense.

DS3 might be overall "better" than DS1 objectively out of sheer content and appearance, but as a sequel it is a pile of shit with zero innovation.

Absolutely, I also missed how deliberate and less of a crapshoot DaS1's combat was. Honestly they could have fixed most of DS3's combat issues by being less forgiving with inventory load's effect on rolling.

In many areas other than that though, I think 3 improved upon what 1 was trying to do. The lore and character interactions in particular felt far more polished, even though they refused to drop the laughter at the end of every fucking character's lines

You find your first polearm and it's crap, you find your first heavy weapon and it's crap, you find your first spell and it's crap.

What, you think running through a swampy mess. They have a skeleton boulder that is even less stressful than the boulders in Sens. If you dare to explore a different path it will sequence break a huge amount of questlines. They transpose Anor Londo castle in the middle of a frozen city for no fucking good reason and populate it with the same silver knights for no reason. They recycle the necromancer mechanic in Dragon's Peak,

There is absolutely no stress as you run through each area. Oh yeah, leeches and frost, who gives a fuck. If you played the original the game and learned anything from it DS3 looks to be a joke. At no point do you need to learn anything new besides become familiar with new enemy movements. If you are smart enough to walk smartly, you're good. The first thing that actually moves in a unique manner are those ninja-skeletons that move like they have the Guardian Dagger.

And to top it all off, they don't conclude the story in any meaningful way. It's all just a cycle. Fantastic; we knew that from game 1. Oh, and there's a pile of serpent symbolism that isn't explained.

I don't regret for a second that I didn't reward their hackjob with DS3 with money. The only two games worth playing are DS1 and Bloodborne because god help them they tried whereas they phoned it in with the others.

I'll grant you that having to warp to level up in DS3 and Bloodborne was a stupid decision but the whole "interconnectivity" thing was actually a good thing to drop. Even in the first Dark Souls, they had to drop it at a certain extent because the scale of the world the player had access to became to insanely large to keep as a warpless, single-map zone. Not only that, but it means that the level designers needed to consistently compromise their layout and enemy placement to accommodate for the player running through in the opposite direction. They could either make those compromises or ignore it and leave an area that's great in one direction but garbage in the other (undead burg)

Why do Basilisks still slowly build a bar clearly labeled "Curse" (Ignoring for a second the loss of the curse status) when this stone does nothing to counter it despite clearly indicating that it removes and reduces the buildup of curse?

Even if it had to introduce bonfire warping later it didn't let you warp to absolutely every bonfire. Do you actually ever go through Undead Burg in reverse normally? I'm trying to think of a reason you would other than getting in from Havel's tower because of all the interconnected shortcuts that prevent you from having to do that normally.
