It's like Sega heard all the complaints about Sonic's plots during the late-adventure era (Shadow/06) being really cringy melodramatic bad shonenfest (Shadow having a gun, Satan being a hedgehog, the entirety of Silver's character etc) but rather than going back to lightearted stuff like they did in Colors / Generations they went all the way in with Super Mega Giga Satan who teleports behind you and has all the villain powers and he's the best fighter in the sonic academy
And it sorta works because it's ironically very funny
