Any number of games are advertised with progressive values as a selling point. Not just that's how the game goes, which would be an acceptable artistic decision from the developer, but rather we're expected to buy it BECAUSE it's progressive. A selling point.
Dunno, that seems worse to me.

>GREENLIT
It being a spiritual successor to an obscure franchise
There have been no good games to come from this selling point, prove me wrong

You are right. That is far, far, FAR worse.
I don't even mind when you glance at a game and go, "Huh, they gay. That's a thing I guess," but when the developers go out of their way to talk about how progressive it is, even if it's not OFFICIALLY a selling point, that's when I start to think, "Odds are good that this game is gonna be a stinking pile of hose shit."

This.
This is the red flag to end all red flags.
It never ends well.
>>384600449
Its basically implying that the old audience is leaving because of the developers ignoring them.

Don't know why you're even trying to talk about games here
>>384600918
OP here, I love games. It's just the the further a game is abstracted from reality the more I like it.
>>384599728
Except marketers don't sell games on the idea that they are early access. They tend to leave that part out when talking about it.
>>384600320
It went back to the series first location. sure as fuck didn't go back to its roots.
>>384601285
>This is early acces because we want to really include the players feedback as early in our development as possible
>Why early access? Because we want YOU to take part in development! We implement what the community wants to see!
>
Have you ever seen an early access game pn steam? EVERY one of them has an abstract about "Why early access?" that goes like above
>>384601960
Isn't "Why early access" a required field on steam?
>>384601960
They are required to tell you it isn't finished. they are no less selling it as they are forced to tell you it's not done or else they face consequences.
>>384599571
>"The most challenging platformer ever made, you will die over and over again!"
>>384600113
Darks Souls and King's Field, maybe? That's a really tenuous link, though. Bioshock and System Shock is one that a lot of people would cite, though I never really liked Bioshock all that much.
