1600 non X seems to be where its at price to performance wise. Being 6 core 12thread it has significant advantages over quad core 8 thread but only in scenarios that can take advantage of that. Streaming is one of those scenarios.

Do not pay any attention to benchmarks where i5's and i7's seem to demolish ryzen. Those are nothing but extremely poorly optimized games that are doing shit in an awful and awkward way which Intel has "predicted" the end result better than AMD, think of it like a math genius that does shit in his head making assumptions vs a math wiz that does it all out on paper to make sure hes right but when both have to do out their work on paper AMD would finish ahead because hes got bigger sheets of paper to work on. (I'm simplify this way too much)

How is recommending the obviously objectively better product being a fanboy? with i5 vs R5 you get 6 cores / 12 threads compared to 4c/4t, and with i7 vs R7 you get twice the cores/threads.

The only advantage you get from the i7 is overclocking it to 5ghz which usually means a $100 240mm AIO and potentially delidding it, which is obviously not something you should have to do to get 10% more fps at 1080p in games

x is clocked a little higher. You should have no trouble overclocking the 1600 up to 1600x speeds. Also the 1600 comes with a heatsink that, surprisingly, is pretty good.

All of the Ryzens top out at in the upper 3GHz to about 4Ghz range for overclocking. You can easily OC a 1600 to the single core performance of a 1500x, you can't add two more cores to a 1500x.
Games are increasingly taking advantage of many cores, thanks to DX12, Vulkan, and consoles having 8 cores.
Ryzen CPUs are divided into two modules of 4 cores each. Communicating within the modules is faster than communicating between them. The 6 cores have 3 cores enabled per module, quads have 2. Having more cores in a module means having to communicate between modules less.

I would go for 1600. After all even Intel decided to abandon 4 cores in favor of 6 cores. There's a chance that now when i5s and i7s are 6 cores devs will actually optimize their games for more than 4 cores.
