Super Mario RPG is easily the second best Squaresoft RPG on the SNES and the best Mario RPG game, well above Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario in my opinion.

Where do you rank the Mario RPG games then? Just curious. I put SMRPG on the top because I love the characters and original enemies a lot more than the ones from the other series, plus I prefer the more traditional level up system.

TTYD > M&L > PM64 > SMRPG >>>>>>>>>>>> Sticker Star

I need to get around to playing SPM and the rest of the M&L series
all that said it'd be pretty cool to see an actualy SMRPG2 on the Switch. shit would look amazing

I've not touched TTYD but I've heard enough rambling praise to make me curious to try it. That's another reason I love SMRPG so much, the art style is really charming and pleasant to look at. I personally don't agree with putting Paper Mario above SMRPG though, it just feels a little too rough around the edges for me.

well if you thought PM64 was a little rough around the edges you'll love TTYD, they took everything from PM64 and made it way better, imo at least. the biggest complaint is backtracking but there's really only one chapter where that's annoying

Stuff like indirect levelling of your partners and levelling up with 100 stars every time just irks me. The rest of the game is pretty great, and the badge system is pure genius, but I just put SMRPG sliiightly higher.
