What are you talking about? Dex weapons were super strong in DS2, because they only slightly lost to Str weapons in damage per hit, but had higher attacks speed and much cheaper stamina cost.

Is the wheel any good in this game outside of pvp? I've been trying it out with a 50 str build and it seems alright, but I would rather just use the Kirkhammer or another strength weapon that does better damage without using as much stamina.

The wheel is cool, but I don't think it's too great against bosses and whatever.

For me its the opposite. I could barely finish my first playthrough with the axe only.

As soon as i started a new playthrough using the blades of mercy i sped through the game in hours.

The crane has great reach, retierpallasch is useful for parry and you can turn Orphan of Kos P1 into easy mode with rakuyo.

Arcane is the master race though.
