I could see the appeal if you were in a guild of friends and had some goals to work towards, but this kind of uber-grind heavy hardcore pvp game probably won't have much of a community. Especially with that fucking b2p then subscription premium bullshit they're running.

Is there any MMO whose business model isn't based off jewing whales as much as they can? There's a huge community of non-whales that would be glad to pay for a monetization scheme that isn't p2w, are these communities so unprofitable?

If I'm not mistaken, you lose your loot when you die, so your gear is probably not that important. But pvp seems to be the main thing. When you're at a decent level, I suppose you'll be wanting to control some region of the map with your guild, while being challenged by other guilds that are trying to take your shit. You'll also probably engage in war with other guilds in order to expand your control over the open pvp areas.
Once you're done with it, you can also probably power abuse whoever is in the area you control.

Player-politics can be pretty fun, that's way more than waiting for devs to come with some new quest or whatever.
