The first true step forward EVER in the franchise. I'm so glad.
Sure MH has changed quite a bit over time but it was always gradual. The biggest changes happened between 1st and 2nd gen anyway, then you could feel the diminishing returns in "improvements", which ended in the absolute shit fest that was MHX/XX where the "improvements" were no more than clear one-off gimmicks.
The game got its first true engine/core change with MHW so now they can actually alter the gameplay a bit eithout breaking the game.

Also there's this deep-seated satisfaction of not being forced to play on a 3DS or not being forced to buy Nintendo's lastest short lifespan gimmick console, you know?

Those 2 GREAT steps forward combined make me more hyped for Monster Hunter than I ever was.

Nintendo's handhelds have an adequate lifespan, I was mostly refering to their homeconsoles (which is what THEY consider the Switch to be first and foremost). Also WiiU didn't last 5 years. It was supported for 2 years and the nput of life-support for a while before Switch came out. Heck, they literally killed WiiU BEFORE Switch's release, they stopped its production months before and it was killed the day of Switch's release (you know, usually homeconsoles don't die the day the new one comes out, just look at a PS3 which is still getting big games in 2017 like P5)

Anyway, even if the Switch was a perfect system, which is isn't, and was supported for a decade, which it won't, I'm still not forced to buy one to play MHW, which is great. I can now actually make choice and play this game on my favorite system(s) instead.

This isn't really different from having a UI element pop up signaling you're standing next to a harvesting spot.

No one likes gathering. Speeding it up is a good thing.

This is a real concern though. And you constantly hear people saying that was done due to loading screens gone, so you'd be unable to zone out to heal. But I honestly struggle to imagine someone actually doing that. Monsters usually give you enough openings to heal during the fight in the same zone. You just pop a pot instead of attacking during the opening.

So for experienced players this will not change much, since you were able to heal during a fight before, you still will be. It will just make the game more noob friendly. If it's a good or bad thing - you have to decide for yourself.

It has graphiqs but I'm waiting for them to release pretty armor sets and weapons to look at. So far I've only seen the boring generic stuff so i'm not really looking forward. The only reason I play is to collect and create fun armor sets. Capcom by far, they've been doing PC releases since the 90s, at least for mega popular franchises like Resident Evil. All those ports were pretty competent too.

MT Frameworks is designed for PC though, so technically you can say they haven't actually ported anything to PC for a while because all they did was release the original PC native version of the game, from which the 'original' console versions are derived.

Not that I would buy a console on launch in the first place, but my minimum waiting time went from my standard 2 years after a console's launch to 5 years for Nintendo consoles.
If after 5 years their console is still alive and supported (like any other company would) then I'll feel like my investment is worth it. But before then I won't ever trust Nintendo.

Also it's not true that every other Nintendo homeconsole had constant support. That stopped in the NES/SNES eras. N64 was also dry as fuck on launch and lost most of its 3rd party support. Gamecube has spotty dry periods and The Capcom Five bullshit. Wii was the king of 6 month+ deserts with no relevant releases.

Xbone canceled quite a few games and lost 90% of its exclusives, but that's something everyone would except after what happened in the second half of 360's life, it pretty much became a multipat system and little else, which is where Xbone is right now. But at least it has multiplats. I'm sure that's what people wanted out of it. There's no sign of Xbone's imminent death either, I don't see a reason it won't still be getting multiplats by 2020.
