3d on the 3ds is the only time I've thought a 3d effect has ever looked good even compared to watching a 3d movie in a theater

The 2DS range is the cheaper option for children anon, a clamshell style mimicking the 3DS unfortunately doesn't change this. I'd recommend getting an N3DS for faceplates (get it soon though it's apparently out of production now) or N3DS XL (my preference) simply for better build quality and it looks a lot nicer when sitting next to other devices.
