It's a fun game but they need to add more environmental assets instead of fucking rocks and trees to sneak and hide behind for cover and concealment. That's what made dayz so fun was there were so many places an enemy could ambush from. The only dynamic that screws you is the way your facing or have to run to get inside the safe zone. Add more stuff in the environment period.

The gunplay is fucking garbage. The core mechanics are fine, but the sensitivity never seems to stay balanced properly and will tick at long distances and magnifications. Also doesn't help that it uses ARMA style controls and mechanics and Halo 2 levels of player bullet-spongery.

The margin for error is aiming. If you hit somebody, they fucked up because they don't know how to hide or take cover or you got the jump on them. It's not realism, that is supposedly the core mechanic, not counter strike bullshit. You know what isn't margin for error? All fair points, but to me the best moments in that game came from (relatively) prolonged firefights with other groups, laying down suppression, reviving fallen teammates, retreating and then coming back, trying to flank and all that jazz. If people would die in one shot like in ARMA, there'd be very likely much less time to appreciate all that tension.
Also it'd probably make armor and gear less relevant.
You still can one-shot knockdown and two-shot kill anyone if you manage to score a headshot with an SKS or something similar.

Prolonged firefights are only interesting when you're actually doing stuff like flanking, feinting, etc. If you're just popping in and out of cover to take chunks out of each other it's boring as shit, and while I would agree the few times that DOES happen can be fun, 99% of the time combat is full auto blasts and bunnyhopping, especially in very close quarters.

People should die in one shot to high calibur or lethal shots in close quarters, and take scrap damage from grazes and low calibur shots at a distance like in arma.
