To differentiate, Aqua is basically Fencing and Terra is basically Broadsword/Axe, and they already gave Sora Mickey and Riku "standard" 1-handed styles.

Backhanded is actually a "legit" stylle, but it is actually supposed to be slow and defensive rather then GOTTA GO FAST agggressive, it is also not very effective and was basically just a gimmick to throw opponents off, so it is basically enjoyiong the same status as DUAL WEILD as being misrepresented which is also a "defensive" style meant to bladelock and then quickly go stabby with the off hand before you get over powered, both get associated with "Rogues" because they are basically "Dirty Fighting".

Unknown was honestly the hardest boss I ever beat due to his unfair design. Noheart on the otherhand is one of the best bosses Ive ever fought and might be the best boss in the series. Its an all out brawl that was both fun and challenging but that doesn't stop the game from being the worst.

Reminder that Birth by Sleep is objectively a horrible game and all of the most popular speedrunners have gone very much in depth with the issues Osaka team has caused to kill any joy the series has ever had. Ven>Aqua>Terra is the objectively best order to play BBS. Ven's gameplay is the most similar to Sora's, so it's a good place to start, and his story leaves a lot unanswered so you can fill the gaps when playing the other two stories. Aqua is perfect as a middle ground between the two other characters because she knows more than Ventus and sees more of the last fight but is still distanced from Terra. And Terra is just amazing if you play him last, since you can see how things went wrong and get your last answers. Plus, Lingering Will vs Terranort is BY FAR the best final boss in the game and just feels like the best way to finish it.

Terra first will NEVER make sense to me. It makes it so you find out the answers to most things in the story in the first third of the game and then fight the coolest final boss. The other two routes feel comparatively boring. Just compare the final fights : Ventus gets Vanitas and Vanitas, Aqua gets Xigbar and Ventus Vanitas and Terra gets Old Xehanort + Vanitas and then Terranort.

One is based in Tokyo, and responsible for KH1 and KHII. They were the initial team for Versus XIII also.
The other is based in Osaka, having worked on Re:CoM, BbS, DDD, 0.2 and KHIII.

It's relatively fallacious, because given how many years have passed, both teams have surely shuffled members not only between internal teams, but some have certainly left the company by now.

So the team that made KHIIFM probably doesn't even exist anymore, and the team that made BbS probably doesn't have all the same people it did seven years ago.

There's a gauge at the top of the Command Menu that fills as you fight. Combos and magic both contribute. Failing to land an attack for a certain period will cause the gauge to reset.

Similar to Command Styles, what you use to fill that gauge determines the resultant Situation Command.
The simplest example is casting Firaga a number of times, this will trigger the Firagun SC.

SCs run on a timer, they're only available to you for a limited time before disappearing.
You can also have multiple SCs open at one time, and even trigger multiple at once (like mixing Thundaga and Firaga can trigger both Thundagun and Firagun).

Basically, it's a system that rewards aggressive play by affording you a wider variety of abilities.

I had a modded PS2 when KH2FM was released and had a blast constructing techniques by myself to handle the game at level 1, where the game's strengths really shine. I've never had that much fun unraveling the mechanics of a game in such detail, and that's just any game period, not just compared to other KH games.

Fast forward to now, I've seen this strange "speedrunning" divide crop up over the past year, and it's surreal to me. I'm not at all interested in speedrunning, but I can see how it would be a huge step up from the type of analysis that I had fun with. I think BBS is really unenjoyable, especially at level 1, where glaring flaws repeatedly slap you in the face. I remember watching videos about these kinds of problems before people seemed to catch wind of them, and I agreed with them on every point, having experienced the problems myself. Now it has become a huge polarizing issue, with shitflinging from every direction.
