Not him but even I can tell that they are sorted by gameplay genre and top is good and bottom is bad. The left cluster is the sidescrolling classic castlevanias. The center cluster is metroidvanias. The right clusters are the 3D adventure games with a gap between the ones that are coherent + play well and then nu-castlevania and the awful N64 games on the bottom.

Aria of Sorrow and Rondo of Blood are the two best games in the series.

Symphony of the Night is the most significant, but Aria is the more polished game of the two. Symphony is not overrated by any means though and should be played, maybe even first.

Rondo plays the best of all the classic style Castlevania games. It's a little bit of a bitch to emulate, but you can figure it out.

3D Castlevania is bad and should only be played once you have exhausted all the other titles.

I played through Dracula Chronicles X on PSP mainly because it had both the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night as unlockables in the game, which I played through both. It played alright but really the 3d models lose all the soul of the what made the original games styles and themes good, and the original Rondo of Blood was a lot better experience overall. I worked on Several Castlevania fangames, played every game and even read some of the mangas and books. The show is ok and it just needs better writing. I appreciate the effort. The animation and style capture the Castlevania feels, even if the dialogs do not.
6/10 for effort, can become 9/10 if they change the writer for someone else and add some Castlevania music.

I think the biggest fuck up was having this made up Speaker religion. The church is shown with good in the games, such as Sypha and Charlotte both as main characters coming from the Church. Then it is shown as evil too such as Alucard's mother being burned at the stake. And I think that having that good/evil dynamic within the Church is definitely a wasted now that Sypha is completely unrelated and apart of this different made up religion that does no wrong. I agree that it was a really stupid and questionable choice for them to make for the show. Maybe they will try to explore the dynamic in the second season instead of what has been shown so far? I can only hope.

I just enjoyed the demon fighting in gothic setting during medieval times. Even thought the little bit of platforming with with Trevor and Sypha within that collapsing underground structure was cool.

Realtalk: The Netflix series is really bad. Animation is borderline motion comic (shit's worse than the animation in part 1 of the JJBA anime) outside of action scenes which are just ok. Pacing is just fucking awful in that it never feels like anything is accomplished in any of the episodes. I mean, it follows a fairly typical structure that makes sense with ep1 giving us a backstory of sorts, ep2 giving us more detail on the main character, and ep3 and 4 each having a new character join with the season ending with the final party coming together. The problem is the show dicks around constantly to the point where it feels like nothing of actual worth is accomplished throughout, up until the last minute when the important thing happens. Voice acting is atrocious with every character mumbling and speaking in relative monotone. Even in scenes that are meant to be intense, nobody ever raises their voice or puts any heart into the performance. The rest of the sound direction is just as flat. Music never kicks up and sound effects have no impact to them. Not to mention, the characterization is just cliche as fuck. Not a single character pushes the boundaries of their archetype. Lastly, getting back to the action scenes, they're so fucking predictable and come off as pure fluff. At no point do the characters feel like they're in any actual danger because Trevor just aces his way through every single one. The bar fight was literally the only scene where it seemed questionable if he was actually going to win because the other guys kept getting shots in on him and he couldn't just shrug them off and instantly react to turn the tables. Every other action scene is just him Mary Sueing his way through it.

Maybe they can get their shit together for season 2 and season 1 is just a product of having a small team with little experience in the genre and only getting enough resources for a 4 episode experiment but it didn't give a good first impression.

I disagree with a lot of your points. Mainly about the music and sound effects.

I agree with you that the voice acting is a little bit jarring. Side characters have the usual "cartoon" level voice acting while the main characters. Especially dracula has a really high quality job done. Which makes it especially noticable and jarring how the rest sounds so terrible.

This show also demonstrates how the sum is greater than its parts. Because I fucking loved it even though I also noticed that the animation is just slightly above anime levels and still fucking bad and other weak points. It was still a very good experience and I am anticipating the next season.
