Really the only major flaw in RE5 is the forced AI partner and that's only really a problem on harder difficulties, otherwise you just give it one of those stun batons or a maxed weapon and forget about them. It loses some personality by moving typewriter and merchant functions to a drab end of level screen but that doesn't really impact gameplay much.

I finally got around to it last year and I thought they were the worst mainline RE games, bar none. I'd rather replay 6 than 5 to be honest but story-wise 5 does have a couple notable beats to it in the grander scheme of things. Much as I'm loathe to say it, 5 should be played for lore purposes should one care about that. 6? RE7 was great and I feel like the only people hating it are nostalgiafags that are assblasted at anything that's even slightly different from the originals and kiddies that played 4/5/6 as their first. The MGS1 one was lame, but the one in PW was pretty fucking bullshit.

I remember the first time I played that part on PSP, I had to take a small break inbetween tries, and after doing it for the 4th time in a row without dying(died a number of times more in that part, in that afternoon), I just had to look up a guide because my arms were numb from mashing so much.

I wanted to either kill myself or throw my PSP to the wall when I found out you had to go to the mirror.

It really wasn't. 6 refined the core of 5's gameplay even if the pacing and level design got shat on...well, worse than they already were compared to 4, anyways. 5 was just a mediocre 4, at least 6 upgraded the mechanics. That all said, 6's gameplay with 5's level design would've been a FAR greater game than either one of them ended up being in their own right.
